AIEA, Hawai'i - Play at the inaugural Pearl at Kalauao Invitational men's golf tournament was suspended in the second round Wednesday due to darkness.
The University of Hawai'i is hosting the 18-team event at the Pearl of Kalauao Golf Course.
Action will resume Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Pacific. The second round will be completed and the third and final round will follow.
UC San Diego is in good position, provisionally sitting in second place at six-under par. The University of Nevada leads the field at nine under, while West Virginia is third at five-under.
Just two teams were able to complete the first 36 holes Wednesday. The remaining squads have one to three holes left to play in the second round.
After the opening round, UC San Diego was in fifth, shooting a two-over par 290 on the par-72, 6,955 yard layout. Nevada was in front after 18 holes, carding an eight-under 280 as the lone team to finish below par.
The Tritons, ranked 97th in the latest national poll, have posted a top five finish in all three tournaments they have competed in this season. Most recently, they were fourth of 17 teams at the Pacific Inivitational in Stockton, Calif.
