ST. GEORGE, Utah. – UC San Diego Tritons traveled to St. George, Utah to attend the Trailblazer Invite hosted by Utah Tech Wednesday, Nov. 19th. Competition began at 6 p.m. PT and consisted of four relay events. The women faced Utah Tech, UC Davis, Fresno State, Pacific, San Diego State, and San Diego. The men are competing against Cal Baptist and Pacific.
The Tritons opened strongly with a total team score of 266 points, with their next closest competitor earning 160 points.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
UC San Diego A placed first out of 26 relay teams in the opening event of the Trailblazer Invite, the 200 Yard Medley Relay.
Madison O'Connell,
Chloe Braun,
Eva Boehlke, and
Asia Kozan represented the Tritons in this race for UCSD A with a time of 1:37.82. UCSD B placed seventh (1:41.52) with
Addison Everage,
Hayley Gregory, Edna Huang, and
Jasmine Phuong.
In the 800 Yard Medley UC San Diego A placed second with a time of 7:16.74. Kozan led, followed by
Audrey Moore and
Sydney Niles, with
Sophia Bell anchoring. UCSD B claimed seventh place (7:29.27) out of 18 relay teams with
Dani Carter,
Sabrina Bennani,
Minh-Nha Kawamura, and Huang.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
On the men's side UC San Diego A,
William Seymour,
Adrian Bellido,
Hunter Cehelnik, and
Zach Elian, clinched first place in the 200 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:26.28. The team beat six others and broke the UC San Diego program record in the event.
William Seymour broke the 50 Yard Backstroke program record with his split (21.74). UCSD B finished in fourth (1:29.66) with
Jack O'Shaughnessy,
Bekzhan Yessengeldy,
Kyle Kengla, and
Jacob Wang.
Rounding out the relays UCSD A in the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay took first place.
Luigi Franco,
Aidan Rikic,
William Miller, and
Landon Egeland earned a time of 6:32.08. Following them in third place, UCSD B,
Shane Burns,
Charlie Franz,
Lucas Brunett, and O'Shaughnessy with a time of 6:40.52.

UC San Diego will return to the pool tomorrow to continue competition in the Trailblazer Invite. The morning session begins at 9 a.m PT and the evening session begins at 4 p.m. PT.
