Men's Soccer

Senior Night Precedes Massive Regular Season Finale

LA JOLLA, Calif. — Saturday's Triton men's soccer match will see the team honor its senior class before hosting Cal State Fullerton in a game that has massive consequences for both sides. The Tritons will be looking to book a spot in The Big West Championship, while Fullerton is hoping to secure the conference's regular season title.

The match begins at 7:00 p.m., with the pregame senior ceremony starting at 6:45. Admission to Triton Soccer Stadium is free, but parking permits are required seven days a week on the UC San Diego campus. Fans watching from home can stream the match on ESPN+ with David Gentile and Sal Zizzo on the call.

DETAILS
Match 17
UC San Diego vs Cal State Fullerton
Saturday, Nov. 1 | 7:00 p.m.
Triton Soccer Stadium | La Jolla, Calif.
Series Record: Fullerton leads 3-2-0
Last Meeting: Cal State Fullerton 4, UC San Diego 1 (Oct. 9, 2024)

UC San Diego is postseason eligible in Division I for the second year. The top six teams in the conference qualify for The Big West Championship. The top two seeds earn a bye to the semifinal round.

The Tritons can clinch a spot in The Big West Championship with a win and a Cal State Bakersfield loss. Another qualification route also exists with a Triton win and a UC Davis loss, with goal differential first among the potential tiebreakers in that scenario.

Fullerton will win a share of the regular season title with a win. The Titans can also do so with a draw and a UC Santa Barbara draw or loss. A loss would see Fullerton relying on a UC Santa Barbara loss and draws or losses from both UC Irvine and Cal Poly.

All Big West matches begin at the same time on Saturday night. The schedule for all teams, including links to live scores and streams, is available HERE.

WHY THE TRITONS?
The Triton is described as the offspring of Poseidon and Amphitrite, a demigod of the sea with a lower part of the body like that of a fish. It is known as a mighty and fierce sea warrior. Given UC San Diego's close proximity to the Pacific Ocean and its connections with the world-famous Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the Triton became our mascot in 1964.
