Four Tritons Earn Academic All-District Distinction

LA JOLLA, Calif. — Four Triton men's soccer scholar-athletes have been recognized for their hard work in the classroom and on the pitch. Brian Arens, Cole Barrett, Keenai Braun and Nate Morgan were all named to the Academic All-District Team as announced by College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday.

The 2025 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Soccer Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The honor is part of the CSC Academic All-America® program, which separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender.

To be eligible, student-athletes must hold a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and must have played in 90% or started 66% of the team's matches. Freshmen are not eligible for consideration.

Arens is a redshirt junior from Seal Beach, California, majoring in economics at Seventh College with a 3.74 GPA. The forward played in 17 of the team's 18 matches, starting the final six. He registered one goal, a game-winner versus Cal State Bakersfield on Oct. 22. Arens also earned Academic All-District honors in 2023.

Barrett is a graduate student from Sacramento, California, earning a master's degree in quantitative finance with a 3.62 GPA. The midfielder played in 15 matches, starting 12. He took 16 shots with five on target.

Braun is a redshirt sophomore from Foothill Ranch, California, majoring in mechanical engineering at Eighth College with a 3.67 GPA. The defender was one of four Tritons to play in all 18 matches, starting 17. He registered a goal and an assist while helping the Triton backline to three clean sheets.

Morgan is a redshirt sophomore from Oakland, California, majoring in business economics at Roosevelt College with a 3.62 GPA. The defender also played in all 18 matches, starting 17. He had a team-high two assists while also helping the Triton defense to three clean sheets.

The 2025 season saw UC San Diego finish sixth in conference play and earn the program's first trip to the Big West Championship. The Tritons' .500 winning percentage in conference matches is their best mark of the Division I era.
