LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego opened its 2025-26 swim season Friday afternoon hosting the annual Triton Invite at Canyonview Aquatic Center. Through six events, the UC San Diego women sit in third place with 271.5 points while the Triton men are fourth with 241 points.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
Sophomore
Madison O'Connell led the way in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing second with a time of 54.33. Freshman
Addison Everage clocked a sixth-place finish (56.25) in her Triton debut. Two Tritons posted top ten finishes in the 200-yard IM:
Eva Boehlke came in third (2:01.77) and
Chloe Braun was seventh (2:03.09).
Asia Kozan paced the Tritons in the 500 free, coming in fifth with a time of 4:50.57. In the final women's event of the afternoon,
Edana Huang was tenth in the 200 fly, finishing in 2:03.33.

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
Three UC San Diego swimmers had top ten performances in the 100-yard backstroke:
Jack O'Shaughnessy was fifth (49.56),
William Seymour was sixth (49.85), and
Shane Burns was finished eighth (50.34).
Hunter Cehelnik was third in the 50 free, finishing in 20.17.
Bekzhan Yessengeldy came in sixth in the 200 IM (1:49.41).
Jacob Cairns was fourth in the 200 fly, finishing in 1:49.42. Freshman
Zachary Tower also posted a top ten performance in the 200 fly, posting a time of 1:51.55.
UP NEXT
Action concludes in the 2025 Triton Invite with a pair of sessions on Saturday. Teams will take to the water at 10 a.m. Saturday morning at Canyonview Aquatic Center, with the final session slated to begin at 1 p.m. Prior to the afternoon session, UC San Diego will hold a ceremony to recognize and thank its 12 seniors.
