Tritons Shut Down Saint Francis for Second-Straight Sweep

LA JOLLA, Calif. – The UC San Diego men's volleyball team earned its second-straight sweep Wednesday, downing Saint Francis inside LionTree Arena.

Set scores were 25-20, 25-20, and 20-16.

UC San Diego came in with a 1-0 record after defeating 20th-ranked McKendree Tuesday in straight sets.

It was the first match of the season for the Red Flash.

UC San Diego is ranked 18th in the country and Saint Francis is receiving votes in the poll.

HOW IT HAPPENED
A big offensive night saw the Tritons hit .439 with 32 kills and just seven errors in 57 attack attempts.

They were also dealing from the service line, finishing with 12 aces. Setter Bryce Dvorak accounted for seven of those, a program record during its NCAA Division I and Division II years (since 2001). Dvorak also added 26 assists, a team-high five digs, and two kills to his totals.

The Tritons spread the attack around. Seven players had multiple kills, led by eight from Leo Pravednikov. Anthony Cherfan was just behind with seven, while Josh Schellinger put down six.

On defense, Pravednikov, Jim Garrison, and Peter Selcho all had three blocks.

For Saint Francis, Michael Mosbacher and Brady Stump each had nine kills. Cole Dorn led all players with seven digs.
