Tritons Blank Daemen for Third-Straight Sweep

LA JOLLA, Calif. – The 18th-ranked UC San Diego Men's Volleyball team earned its third-consecutive sweep Friday, defeating Daemen at LionTree Arena.

Set scores were 25-18, 25-15, and 25-20.

The Tritons are now 3-0 on the young season. The Wildcats, who lost at USC Thursday, are 0-2.

Earlier in the week in La Jolla, UC San Diego won 3-0 against both No. 20 McKendree and Saint Francis.

HOW IT HAPPENED
For the second time this week, UC San Diego hit north of .400, coming in at .434 with 29 kills and just six errors in 53 attack attempts. Wednesday, the team hit .439 against Saint Francis.

Conversely, Daemen managed to post just an .077 attack percentage with 24 kills and 19 miscues in 65 swings.

The Tritons also held a 7-2 advantage in blocks and a 5-3 edge in service aces.

UC San Diego spread the offense out with six players finishing with multiple kills. Josh Schellinger led the way with eight. He swung at a healthy .538 (8-1-13). Anthony Cherfan hit .385 (5-0-13). Setter Bryce Dvorak had 24 assists and one service ace.

Defensively, Keegan Cook had a match-best seven digs. Peter Selcho totaled five blocks (one solo).

For Daemen, Zach Schneider had nine kills. Kyle Zelasko finished with five digs.
