SAN DIEGO—UC San Diego women's volleyball completed its preseason exhibition match on Saturday at San Diego State, falling in five sets to the Aztecs (24-26, 24-26, 25-22, 25-20, 12-15).

Ava McInnes led the Tritons offensively, collected 17 kills on 43 swings with just three errors to hit at a .326 clip. The senior outside hitter finished the match with a team-high 21 points, aided by three aces and two block assists. McInnes also finished just shy of a double-double with nine digs in the match.

Emily McDaniel was just behind McInnes with 19.5 points, collecting 13 kills and nine blocks (4 solo). Freshman
Valentina Meirelles also finished in double-figures with 10 kills in the match.

Defensively, UC San Diego was led by freshman
Paulina Baillie with 14 digs and two aces.
Kayla Uhlick tallied nine digs along with McInnes.
Lauren Brooker led the way in assists with 18, while freshman
Audrey Hollis chipped in 14 and
Sinead Beaupain added 11.

The Tritons open their 2024 schedule next weekend with the UC San Diego Invitational in LionTree Arena, Friday-Sunday. UC San Diego will take on Northern Arizona on Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. in the season opener and face Southern Utah (Aug. 31) and Gonzaga (Sept. 1) to finish out the weekend.
