LA JOLLA, Calif. -Â The Tritons dropped three spots to ninth place following Monday's second round of the UC San Diego Invitational at Torrey Pines Golf Course.
UC San Diego is 24-over par with a two-round total of 600 strokes on the par-72, 7258-yard North course. The Tritons shot 296 today to go along with Sunday's 304.
Individually,
Nathan Tseng is the top Triton, tied for 20th at three-over. His even-par 72 on Monday improved his standing by three positions in the 107-player field. It is the lowest round recorded by any Triton over the 36 holes.
North Dakota State continues to lead the 17-team field at one-over par. The Bisons are five strokes in front of second-place Idaho and six strokes ahead of third-place Yale.
Oklahoma Christian, the reigning UC San Diego Invitational champion, is in the hunt at eight-over par.
Tied for the individual lead at three-under are NDSU's Jack Johnson and Idaho's Johannes Hounsgaard. Johnson fired a 68 to improve seven places and Hounsgaard had a 69, moving up by four spots.Â
Scores improved substantially as Sunday's rain and high winds gave way to clear skies and weaker winds Monday.
Tuesday's third and final round is set for a 7 a.m. start. Spectators are welcome free of charge and action can also be followed with
live scoring.
