LA JOLLA, Calif. - Following Sunday's opening round of the Fourth Annual UC San Diego Invitational at Torrey Pines, the Tritons' men's golf team sits in a tie for sixth and two players are in the top-25.
Battling wet conditions with wind gusts of 25-30 miles per hour on Torrey Pines' North course, UC San Diego totaled a 304, 16-over par on the par 72, 7258-yard layout.

Justin Gill are tied for 23rd with 11 other players after carding a 3-over 75.
A trio of teams - North Dakota State, Oklahoma Christian, and Yale - lead the 17-team field after recording a 293 (+5) Sunday. They are five strokes in front of fourth-place Idaho.
Three players are tied for the lead at two-under including Matt McGann of Idaho, Ian Simonich from North Dakota State, and Yale's Robert You.
Monday's second round is set for a 1 p.m. start and the third and final round goes out Tuesday at 7 a.m. Action can be followed with

• The 18-school field is the largest in the event's history.
• The 2023 UC San Diego Invitational was also played at Torrey Pines.

Justin Gill is a true freshman playing in his third event as a Triton. He's coming off a 13th-place finish at the Orange County Collegiate in February.
