Swim Wraps Season Finale with Three NIC Titles

OCALA, Fla. – UC San Diego wrapped the 2024 NIC meet with three more National Invitational titles as Juli Arzave won the 1000 yard freestyle and 1650 yard freestyle, and Asia Kozan won the 200 fly. The Tritons finished the night with 12 top 10 finishes.
 
The women finished in fifth place with 421 points in the field of 47 teams and the men finished seventh with 375.5 points in the field of 36 teams.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Opening the night with a double championship win, Juli Arzave won the 1000 and 1650 free swimming a total time of 16:19.80. In 2023, Arzave won the 1650 free and set the CSCAA NIC meet record at 16:14.97. On the men's side, Devin Esser swam a 15:30.43 in the same event to finish fifth and post a lifetime best swim.
 
In the 200 back, Eva Boehlke finished sixth overall with a time of 1:57.20. Luigi Franco represented for the men's squad with a seventh-place finish at 1:44.70.
 
Andrija Petkovic swam a time of 44.28 in the 100 free to finish ninth overall. In the 200 breast, Chloe Braun also finished ninth with a time of 2:15.85. Jake Reuter posted another ninth-place finish for the gold and blue in the 200 breast as well.
 
The third title of the night was won by Asia Kozan in the 200 fly. The freshman won the event with a time of 1:58.20, which was only 0.93 seconds away from the meet record. In the same event, Chad Morrison swam a time of 1:49.33 to finish 10th. During prelims, Morrison swam a lifetime best of 1:48.55.

Competing in the 100 IM during prelims, Adrian Bellido initially tied for the final spot in the finals. In the 100 IM swim-off, the freshman set a new UC San Diego program record at 49.94.
