ST. GEORGE, Utah – On the second night of the MPSF Conference Championships, UC San Diego women's swim swept all four events with three program records. Both teams scored 15 swimmers of the 24 that went to finals.
So far, the Triton women have won five of the six events at the conference meet. Currently, the Triton women are in fourth place at 203 points and the Triton men are in 6th with 123 points. Diving scores have already been added to team scores.
ON THE WOMEN'S SIDE
Starting the sweep was the record-breaking relay team made up of
Miranda Renner,
Josette Odgers,
Asia Kozan, and
Mackenzie Lee. Posting a time of 1:29.96 in the 200 yard free relay, the Triton women edge defending champions Hawai'i by tenths of a second.
Juli Arzave continued the dramatics when she swam a 4:45.91 time in the 500 free to win the event by three full seconds. Not only was her swim a team record and a life time best, it was a NCAA B cut qualifying swim.
Sophie Francis added points as well in fourth place with a time of 4:53.51.
Sophia Bell finished ninth adding to the Triton score with a time of 4:57.17.
In the 200 IM, freshman
Eva Boehlke beat out Hawai'i again with a time of 1:59.84 to break the program record and take the championship.
Ending the night and the securing the sweep was
Miranda Renner who tied her own program record in the 50 free to win the event at 22.70. The senior edged second by three one hundredths of a second. Odgers and Lee both scored again with their 12th and 15th place finishes.
ON THE MEN'S SIDE
The Triton men scored nine times in the finals starting with the 200 free relay. The squad was made up of
Zach Elian,
Lucas Brunett,
Andrija Petkovic, and
Aidan Rikic who posted a time of 1:19.14 for third place.
Four Triton men represented in the 500 free with
Devin Esser leading the way in fourth place with a time of 4:26.73.
Luigi Franco followed closed behind in sixth place with a time of 4:27.88.
Ryan Kirton posted a time of 4:35.45 for eighth place and
Jackson Bernstein finished 10th.
Nathan Lee led the Tritons in the 200 IM with an 11th place finish.
Jake Reuter and
Colton Milne added points with their 13th and 15th place finishes.

The Tritons will continue to compete at the conference championships with prelims beginning Friday, Feb. 23 at 9 a.m. PT. The third day of finals will begin at 5 p.m. PT after prelims are conducted.
