HOW IT HAPPENED
Hawai'i was quick to build a 9-5 lead in the opening set and extended its advantage to 16-10 midway through the frame. McDaniel tried to spark the Triton offense with back-to-back kills to make it 20-15, but the Rainbow Wahine closed out the frame with a 5-1 run to take the first set, 25-16.

The second set saw UH hit .586 as a team with just one hitting error, compared to .088 for the Tritons. After trailing 13-6, UC San Diego looked to mount a comeback with a block by McDaniel/Pries followed by an ace for Pries to make it 13-8. However, Hawai'i maintained the momentum down the stretch and took the second set, 25-13.

After a four-point run to being set three, UH maintained the advantage all the way to 10-6. A kill by McInnes sparked a 4-0 run for the Tritons to pull even 10-10 after a solo block by McInnes punctuated the rally. Hawai'i answered by scoring four unanswered on its way to ta 6-1 scoring run. Two kills by McCluskey and a solo block by Sabire Karacaova gave UC San Diego new life at 16-14. However, UH effectively ended the rally with another 4-1 run and the Bows took the final frame, 25-19.
