PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas - UC San Diego men's golf wrapped up its fall season at the White Sands NCAA Invitational Sunday with a 12th-place finish.
The top Triton finisher was junior
Nathan Tseng, who tied for 35th in the 74-player field.
West Virginia hosted the 12-team tournament at the Ocean Club Golf Course in the Bahamas, a par-72 course that played just under 7,000 yards.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UC San Diego, which shot one-over par in Friday's first round and Saturday's second round, was nine-over Sunday to finish 11-over for the event. The Tritons were in seventh after the opening round but fell to 11th following round two.
Charleston ran away with the title, going 50-under par over the 54 holes. The Cougars shot a tournament-low 23-under Sunday. Houston was 10 strokes back in second place and Ball State was a distant third, 24 strokes behind the winner.
Tseng wrapped up his outing at one-under par after posting rounds of 70, 69, and 78. After Saturday's round he was in 11th place. His 69 was the low round by any Triton.
Charleston's Kieron Van Wyk was the individual medalist at 21-under. Houston's Hudson Weibel took second at 16-under and Tim Chan of Eastern Michigan was third at 14-under.
The first round played to a 72.64 average while the second and third came in at 72.52.

• Nationally, UC San Diego is ranked 154 of 307 teams.
• Winner Charleston is ranked No. 40, second-place Houston is No. 49, and third-place Ball State is 177.

• Over four events, it was the first time that the Tritons were the only Big West team in contention.
