STOCKTON, Calif. - The UC San Diego golf team finished 12th as the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational concluded with Wednesday's third round.
Pacific hosted the 15-team, 92-player event at Stockton Golf & Country Club, a par-71, 6,566-yard venue.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UC San Diego was seventh after round one and 12th after both the second and third rounds.
The Tritons finished 9-over with an 861 over the three rounds. They shot 282 in the first round, 293 in the second, and 286 today.
The University of San Diego won the event, finishing 32-under par. The Toreros were four strokes in front of second-place Pacific and 11 better than third-place California.
Nathan Tseng went wire-to-wire as the Tritons' leader. He opened with a 67 Monday, which put him in fourth. His 74 Tuesday dropped him into 28th and today's 72 had him finishing 33rd overall.
Justin Gill, who placed 47th at 4-over, shot a 67 Wednesday to match Tseng for the low round by a Triton over 54 holes of play.
The top of the leader board was tight. Pacific's Travis Robbie took the win at 13-under par. A University of San Diego duo - Jaden Cantafio and You Choi - tied for second at 11-under.

TRITON TIDBITS
• There were seven Big West teams in contention - Idaho (6th), Cal State Fullerton (7th), UC Irvine (t-8th), UC Riverside (10th), Sacramento State (11th), UC San Diego (tie-12th), and CSUN (tie-12th).
• The Tritons last played this tournament in 2022. They tied for 11th of 16 teams.
Davis McDowell was the top finisher for UC San Diego, tying for third in the 93-player field.
UP NEXT
UC San Diego plays its final fall tournament on the Bahamas. The prestigious White Sands Collegiate takes place Oct. 25-27 at the Ocean Club on Paradise Island.
