Tritons Host Mustangs and Travel to 'Runners

LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego men's soccer heads into the third week of conference play and will face two undefeated conference foes as they host Cal Poly on Wednesday, Oct. 16 before traveling north to Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday, Oct. 19.
 
Entering the week on a tie and a win, Cal Poly (5-3-5) currently remains undefeated in conference play at 2-0-2. The Mustangs tied at 0-0 with then No. 22 UCSB and most recently tied with UC Riverside at 0-0 as well. Cal Poly is led by Quinn Mahoney on the offensive side of the field as he has scored three goals and tallied four assists so far this season. In goal, Nicky McCune has only allowed eight goals over 13 games with 35 saves.
 
Cal State Bakersfield (5-2-4) will face UC Irvine on the road before returning Saturday to host the Tritons. The 'Runners remained undefeated in Big West play at 2-0-2 with both ties coming against the top teams of the conference. In week one, Cal State Bakersfield took down Sac State and went on to tie with Cal State Fullerton. In week two, they tied with then No. 23 UCSB and defeated CSUN. Scoring eight goals over 10 games, Connor Mautino leads the 'Runners with 17 points. Keeper Zenden Hart has tallied 36 saves with 13 goals allowed.
 
After dropping a match to Cal State Fullerton and picking up the second over Sac State, UC San Diego is even at 2-2 in the third week of conference competition. The Tritons are finding success when they are home with both wins happening on the La Jolla campus. In all four Big West contests, UC San Diego has struck first. Starting all 13 games, Max Carvalho is sporting 11 points for the gold and blue with 4 goals scored and 3 assists tallied. In between the posts, Nolan Premack has made 55 saves with a 71% save percentage.

Returning home to Triton Soccer Stadium, UC San Diego men's soccer defeated visiting Sacramento State in a 2-0 result on Saturday night. True freshman Woody Brown tallied the game winner for his first collegiate goal.
 
UC San Diego evens out to 2-2 in Big West play and 3-6-4 overall. The Hornets move to 1-3 and 4-7-2 overall.
