Tough Second Round for Tritons Tuesday

STOCKTON, Calif. - Following a challenging second round Tuesday, the UC San Diego men's golf team fell five spots in the standings at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational.

Pacific is hosting the 15-team, 92-player event at Stockton Golf & Country Club, a par-71, 6,566-yard venue.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UC San Diego shot a 293 today after firing a 282 in Monday's opening round. The Tritons slid from seventh into 12th at seven-over par.

Host Pacific is the team leader at 23-under. The University of San Diego (-21) is second and California (-13) is third.

Nathan Tseng continues to be the top Triton in 28th place at 1-under. He shot a 3-over 74 Tuesday after a 4-under 67 Monday.

Kyle Dougherty had a solid day, shooting a 69 (-2), the low round of the day for UC San Diego. His score elevated him 26 spots into 46th from 72nd.

TRITON TIDBITS
• There are seven Big West teams in contention - Cal State Fullerton, CSUN, Idaho (affiliate member), Sacramento State (affiliate member), UC Irvine, UC Riverside, and UC San Diego.
• The Tritons last played this tournament in 2022. They tied for 11th of 16 teams. Davis McDowell was the top finisher for UC San Diego, tying for third in the 93-player field.

UP NEXT
The Tritons' first group tees off at 9 a.m. in Wednesday's third and final round. They will be playing with UC Irvine and Sacramento State. Full Round 3 Pairings
