LA JOLLA, Calif. – Opening the new year at Canyonview Aquatic Center, both UC San Diego squads fell to Wisconsin and UCLA in a double dual meet.

The No. 22 Badger men earned 211 points to the Tritons' 68. The No. 13 Badger women took the double dual meet with 172.5 points over No. 25 UCLA's 108.5. Against the Tritons, the Badgers won with 218 points to Tritons' 63. UCLA earned 210 points while the Tritons posted 71.

ON THE WOMEN'S SIDE
Eva Boehlke opened the scoring for the Tritons when she finished second in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 55.95.
Asia Kozan snags a fourth-place finish in the 100 fly with a time of 55.65 after a tight race with the Bruins.

Miranda Renner posted a time of 23.78 only hundredths of a second behind second and third place. Boehlke earned another trip to the podium with a time of 57.3 in the 100 IM. Kozan earned a second-place finish in the 200 free with a time of 1:49.34. The difference between her and first place was one-one hundredth of a second.

Renner posted a time of 24.91 in the 50 fly to earn a third-place finish. Finishing the day with a fourth-place finish in the 400 free, Kozan,
Audrey Moore, Renner, and
Josette Odgers posted a time of 3:28.68.

ON THE MEN'S SIDE
Opening the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 200 yard medley relay,
Shane Burns,
Luke Pusateri,
Chad Morrison, and
Logan Lakis posted a time of 1:32.06. Swimming the 100 back,
Nathan Lee posted a time of 50.3 to finish third after a tight finish with the Badgers.

In the 50 breast, Pusateri finished fourth with a time of 25.83; only three one-hundredths behind third place.
Chad Morrison and
Zach Elian took fourth and fifth respectively as they swam a close race with second and third.

Leading the 50 back,
Andrija Petkovic was edged in the final touch to earn a time of 23.12 to Wisconsin's first place finisher at 23.07. In the same race, Lee finished fourth with a time of 23.81. In the 100 breast, Pusateri earned a second-place finish with a time of 56.07. Swimming a time of 20.89,
Lucas Brunett finished third with Elian and Lakis coming in fifth and sixth, respectively.

Lee and
Jake Reuter took fourth and fifth in the 100 IM with times of 51.76 and 53.03. Petkovic and
Ryan Kirton finished fourth and fifth in the 200 free. Morrison finished second with a time of 22.36 in the 50 fly. Lee earned another third-place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 1:51.41.

Devin Esser wrapped the individual events with a fourth-place finish in the 1000 free. Petkovic,
Aidan Rikic, Elian, and Kirton earned the lone Triton win of the day in the 400 free with a time of 3:03.07.
Adrian Bellido,
Andrew Bowman, Brunett, and Reuter took second in the same event with a time of 3:07.71.

UC San Diego will send a group of Tritons to the TYR Pro Swim Series Jan. 10-14 with the rest of the team heading to USC on Friday, Jan. 12 for a double dual meet vs. USC and Utah.
