LOS ANGELES – On the road at USC, UC San Diego men's and women's swim teams fell to their Trojan hosts. Utah's women defeated the Tritons as well in the double dual meet.
The No. 15 Trojan men earned 187 points to the Tritons' 78. The No. 4 Trojan women took the double dual meet with 172.5 points over Utah's 84.5. Against the Tritons, the Trojans won with 185 points to Tritons' 69. Utah earned 186 points while the Tritons posted 75.
ON THE WOMEN'S SIDE
In the 1000 free,
Sophia Bell swam a time of 10:19.82 for a fourth-place finish.
Iris Bayan snagged a fifth-place finish in the 100 back with a time of 57.75.
Swimming the 200 breast,
Jana Jocic posted a time of 2:20.59 for a third-place finish.
Sabrina Bennani earned the highest finish for the Triton women in the 200 IM with a time of 2:08.12. She was followed by
Minh-Nha Kawamura in foruth with a time of 2:08.12.
Finishing the day, the Triton women earned a second-place finish in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:33.59. The squad was made up of
Sophie Francis,
Gabi Icheva,
Mackenzie Lee, and
Josette Odgers.
ON THE MEN'S SIDE
Opening the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 200 yard medley relay,
Nathan Lee,
Luke Pusateri,
Chad Morrison, and
Lucas Brunett posted a time of 1:31.66.
Jackson Bernstein earned a spot on the podium in the 1000 free with a time of 9:36.60 for second place.
Ryan Kirton earned another fourth-place finish for the Tritons in the 200 free with a time of 1:41.04, only milliseconds behind third. Lee finished third in the 100 back with a time of 49.56. Another second-place finish was earned in the 100 breast by Pusateri with a time of 56.37. He was followed by
Adrian Bellido in third with a time of 57.96.
Yuma Dugas swam a time of 1:53.12 to earn third place in the 200 fly.
Zach Elian finished third in the 50 free with a time of 21.04 and was followed by
Logan Lakis and Brunett in fourth and fifth.
Aidan Rikic posted a time of 46.75 in the 100 free to finish fourth with Elian taking fifth.
Lee swam another third-place finish with a time of 1:48.99. Pusateri earned another third-place finish in the 200 breast with a time of 2:05.49.
Devin Esser posted a time of 4:38.38 in the 500 free to finish second. Morrison finished third with a time of 50.67 in the 100 fly and was followed by
Andrew Bowman, and Elian in fifth and sixth.
The men finished the day with a third-place finish in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:08.77. Kirton, Lakis, Elian and Rikic made up the final relay squad.
UP NEXT
The two UC San Diego squads will head to Riverside to compete in a double dual meet vs. California Baptist and Grand Canyon University on Saturday, Jan. 20. The meet is set to start at 11 a.m. on the Cal Baptist campus.
