US AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. — The UC San Diego golf team held its position Tuesday and finished 11th of 24 squads as the Gene Miranda Falcon Invite concluded.
Individually, junior
Davis McDowell was the top finisher for the Tritons, tying for 17th of 220 players.
Air Force hosted the three-day, 54-hole tournament at Eisenhower Golf Club in Colorado Springs.
UC San Diego finished with an 878, 14-over on the par-72, 7,541-yard course. The team opened with a 302 (+14) Sunday, followed with a 287 (-1) Tuesday, and concluded with a 289 (+1) today. The Tritons sat in a tie for 19th after the opening round and moved up to 11th by improving their score by 15 strokes in round two.
McDowell ended the event with an even par 216. He posted rounds of 72 (even), 70 (-2), and 74 (+2).Â
Junior Franics Catalano moved up 14 spots in the standings after carding a 71 (-1) Tuesday. He tied for 47th with a 5-over par 221.
Senior
Jerry Wu also tied for 47th.
Improving their placings between Monday and Tuesday were junior
Kyle Dougherty (+6, tie for 55, up six spots) and sophomore
Nathan Tseng (+11, tie for 80th, up 18 spots).
Colorado State won the team title for the second-straight year with a score of 851 (-13).Â

CSU's Christoph Bleier and Valparaiso's Caleb VanArragon each shot 203 (-13), with VanArragon winning on the first playoff hole.
There were 120 players in the field.
