Jerry Wu blasted up 36 spots in the standings Monday

Tritons Move Up Eight Spots to 11th in Colorado

US AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. — The UC San Diego golf team moved up eight spots in the standings following Monday's second round of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invite.

Air Force is hosting the 24-team, 54-hole tournament Sunday through Tuesday at Eisenhower Golf Club in Colorado Springs.

The Tritons shot a 287 (-1) Monday, 15 strokes better than Sunday's 302 (+14) that they posted in the opening round. The team is currently in 11th place at 13-over par with a two-round total of 589. UC San Diego came into today's round tied for 19th.

Junior Davis McDowell continues to hold the top spot for the Tritons, sitting in a tie for 15th with a 2-under 142. He fired a 70 (-2) Monday to go along with his 72 (even) Sunday. He moved up one spot in the standings today.

Senior Jerry Wu rocketed up the leader board 36 positions, moving into a tie for 36th with a 70 (-2) Monday. His 77 yesterday left him in a tie for 72nd.

New Mexico State sits atop the field at 8-under, three strokes ahead of Colorado State and four in front of UC Davis. Five teams are under par following the two rounds.

Valparaiso's Caleb VanArragon took over the No. 1 individual spot Monday, playing consistently with a 67 (-5) in each round. Colorado State's Christoph Bleier, who was in the lead after one round, is now tied for second with Jakub Hrinda from George Washington at 8-under par.

There are 120 players in the field.
