McDowell 16th, Tritons 19th After One Round in Colorado

LA JOLLA, Calif. — The UC San Diego golf team opened its 2023 fall season Sunday by competing in the first round of the 54th Gene Miranda Falcon Invite.

Air Force is hosting the 24-team, 54-hole tournament Sunday through Tuesday at Eisenhower Golf Club in Colorado Springs.

The Tritons finished 14-over par with a 302 on the par-72, 7,541-yard layout.

Junior Davis McDowell holds the top spot for the Tritons thus far, sitting in a tie for 16th at even par. McDowell's round consisted of two birdies, two bogeys, and 14 pars.

There are 120 players in the field.

Valparaiso is in first place as the only team that finished under par, carding a 3-under 285. New Mexico State finished even (288), while all other teams shot over-par.

The individual leader is Christoph Bleier of Colorado State, who fired a seven-under 65. He was one of 15 players that finished under par Sunday.
