IRVINE, Calif. – The Big West has revealed its women's volleyball preseason coaches' poll and preseason team, as determined by the conference's head coaches. UC San Diego has been picked to finish seventh with 42 points in the coaches' poll.
2022 Big West Champion Hawai'i was picked to finish first with 100 points and 10 first-place votes, followed by UC Santa Barbara (83 points) and Long Beach State (82 points, 1 first-place vote) rounding out the top three.
Cal Poly (81) was picked fourth and UC Davis (61) was voted fifth, followed by UC Irvine (54), UC San Diego (42), Cal State Bakersfield (33), Cal State Fullerton (32), CSUN (27) and UC Riverside (10).
UC San Diego women's volleyball finished its second season of Division I competition in 2022 with a 14-18 record and 7-13 mark in conference play, earning the Tritons a seventh-place finish in The Big West.
The 2023 campaign marks the final season for the Tritons in the NCAA-mandated Division I reclassifying period. After the 2023-24 academic year, UC San Diego Athletics will be a full D-I member school and all athletic programs will be eligible for NCAA postseason competition.

About UC San Diego Athletics
After two decades as one of the most successful programs in NCAA Division II, the UC San Diego intercollegiate athletics program began a new era in 2020 as a member of The Big West in NCAA Division I. The 23-sport Tritons earned 30 team and nearly 150 individual national championships during its time in Divisions II and III and helped guide 1,400 scholar-athletes to All-America honors.
