LA JOLLA, Calif. – Recently graduated UC San Diego women's tennis scholar-athlete
Tiara Nourishad is featured in a new video from The Big West celebrating Pride Month. Nourishad served on the conference's Big West Undivided committee, working to increase DEI awareness and opportunities on each campus.
LGBTQ+ Pride is currently celebrated in the month of June to honor the
1969 Stonewall Riots in Manhattan, which is considered the tipping point of the Gay Liberation movement in the United States. Pride Month is a time for all people to come together, celebrate their identities, raise awareness about LGBTQ+ issues, advocate for equal rights and recognize the impact and contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals.
To celebrate Pride,
Big West Undivided created a video to highlight advice for LGBTQ+ individuals and allies, as well as share tangible examples of inclusion in action on some of our campuses.

While Pride Month is widely celebrated in June, LGBTQ+ individuals and their allies work towards equality and acceptance throughout the year. Pride Month serves as a concentrated period to amplify these efforts and promote positive change.
The NCAA Office of Inclusion is committed to providing education and resources that support LGTBQ students, coaches, and administrators who teach and lead them in athletes departments across the country. They strive to assist athletics departments with developing inclusive cultures that allow all persons to be their authentic selves.
