LA JOLLA, Calif. — UC San Diego men's volleyball player
Jim Garrison has been named the Big West Freshman Player of the Week. The announcement was made Monday by the conference.
A middle blocker, Garrison played a big part in UC San Diego's five-set win against Big West opponent UC Santa Barbara Friday at LionTree Arena. He had a career- and match-high seven blocks and hit a career-best .750 with six kills and no errors in eight swings.
It was the Tritons' first win against the Gauchos since 2013.
Garrison, who redshirted as a true freshman in 2022, hails from Manhattan Beach, Calif. He is a computer science major out of UC San Diego's Warren College.
Garrison is the third Triton to garner Big West Freshman Player of the Week accolades this season. Outside hitter
Josh Schellinger has earned it three times (2/27, 2/20, 1/23) and libero
Evan Boyle won it once (1/9).

UC San Diego wraps up its regular season with a pair of matches at No. 1-ranked Hawai'i on April 14 and April 15. The Big West Championships are scheduled for April 20-22 at UC Irvine.
