ST. GEORGE, Utah – UC San Diego swim and dive teams wrapped competition at the MPSF Conference championships in Los Angeles and Utah. On the final day of the championship meet, the Tritons reached the podium three times in two events with two championship swims.
The Triton women finish in second place with 604 points, and the Triton men finish in fifth with 409 points.
ON THE WOMEN'S SIDE
Katja Pavicevic had a career day as she broke the MPSF meet record twice in the 200 yard breaststroke. In prelims she finished with a time of 2:11.22 to break the four year-old record. She broke her hours-old record in the final, swimming a time of 2:09.06 to win the event. Along with the conference meet record, she set a new school record, set a new lifetime best, and swam an NCAA qualifying time.
Taking on the daunting 1650 yard freestyle, the Tritons took first and second in the event.
Juli Arzave swam a 16:34.67 to win the championship with a season best swim. Freshman
Sophia Bell took second with a lifetime best swim finishing at 16:45.58.
In the 100 yard freestyle,
Sophie Francis swam a season best time with a time of 51.18.
ON THE MEN'S SIDE
Swimming the 1650 yard freestyle or a mile,
Jackson Bernstein swam a lifetime best swim with a time of 15:44.13. As the fastest Triton in the event, he finished seventh and dropped 19.32 seconds from his entry time.
Swimming a time of 44.82 in the 100 yard freestyle, freshman
Aidan Rikic posted a lifetime best time.
In Mission Viejo, Calif.,
Kyland Parenti finished tenth in the platform diving championship.

The UC San Diego swim teams will head to Elkhart, Ind. for the CSCAA National Invitational Championships. The NIC will start on March 9 and continue thru March 11.
