ST. GEORGE, Utah – UC San Diego swim and dive teams continued competition at the MPSF Conference championships in Los Angeles and Utah. As they wrapped up the third day of prelims and finals, the Tritons reached the podium in six times in five different events.
After day two, the Triton women sit in second place with 440 points, 110.5 points behind Hawai'i, and the Triton men are in fourth with 283.
ON THE WOMEN'S SIDE
Opening finals with a podium visit for the gold and blue,
Jordan Phillips took third place in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 54.35. She was 0.26 seconds behind second.
In prelims,
Emma Keith-Brown swam a season best time in the 400 yard IM with a time of 4:23.38. She earned a spot in the A-final where she took fourth place. In the final, she dropped an additional 1.96 seconds for a lifetime best at 4:21.42. In that same final,
Tina Reuter finished third with a 4:20.68 time to take the podium.
During prelims of the 100 yard breaststroke,
Katja Pavicevic posted a NCAA B cut with a time of 1:01.37. In the finals, Pavicevic took first with a school record at 1:00.83 with teammate
Chloe Braun taking third at 1:01.07 – 0.08 seconds behind second place. The Triton duo both earn lifetime bests with their swims.
The women wrapped the night with one more podium visit in the 400 yard medley relay. Taking second place behind Hawai'i, the Triton squad made up of Phillips, Pavicevic,
Valerie Yue, and
Miranda Renner posted a 3:39.74 time. A 0.45 second making the difference in earning first.
ON THE MEN'S SIDE
Ivan Kurakin took his second podium visit tonight at he placed third in the 200 yard freestyle. Posting a 1:35.69, he was just shy of a lifetime best and breaking his own school record.
In the 400 IM,
Nathan Lee took seventh at finals with a time of 3:57.59.
In Los Angeles,
Kyland Parenti took eighth place in the prelims of the 3-meter dive and went on to finish seventh in the finals.

The UC San Diego swim teams continue the MPSF Conference championships Thursday through Saturday. Prelims begin at 10 am MT with finals taking place each night at 6 pm MT.
