ST. GEORGE, Utah – UC San Diego swim and dive teams continued competition at the MPSF Conference championships in Los Angeles and Utah. Competing in the first full day of prelims and finals, the Tritons reached the podium five times in four different events with several personal bests recorded by the two teams.
After day two, the Triton women sit in second place with 219 points and the Triton men are in fourth with 154.
ON THE WOMEN'S SIDE
Opening the finals with a podium visit, the Tritons took second in the 200 yard free relay. The relay squad was made up of
Josette Odgers,
Miranda Renner,
Tina Reuter, and
Jordan Phillips. Finishing at 1:30.20, the team was 0.2 from the team record and 0.37 behind first place Hawai'i.
Earning the Tritons first championship,
Juli Arzave posted a team record in the 500 yard freestyle to take first. In 2022, Arzave finished second with a time of 4:51.34, tonight, she finished nearly four seconds faster at 4:47.95. In her conference debut, freshman
Sophia Bell posted a personal best with a time of 4:51.76 to take fifth in the same event.
In prelims,
Katja Pavicevic posted a personal best in the 200 IM tying the team record at 2:00.28 and taking first place.
Tina Reuter finished second in prelims about a second behind Pavicevic. The duo went on to take the first and second spot again in the finals. This time Reuter took first with a time of 2:00.58 and Pavicevic took second with a time of 2:00.63.
ON THE MEN'S SIDE
During prelims,
Jackson Bernstein earned a personal best in the 500 yard freestyle. The sophomore swam a 4:28.91 to make his way to the B final. In the 200 IM,
Nathan Lee posted a personal best with a time of 1:46.96.
Andrija Petkovic,
Aidan Rikic,
Justin Morsch, and
Chad Morrison earned a season best in the 200 yard free relay, swimming a 1:20.51.
Following Arzave's performance for the women,
Ivan Kurakin took second in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:22.52. Finishing a second behind first, Kurakin was a full two seconds ahead of third.
Battling his way to the diving finals in the one meter dive,
Kyland Parenti took seventh in finals with a score of 271.30.

The UC San Diego swim teams continue the MPSF Conference championships Thursday through Saturday. Prelims begin at 10 am MT with finals taking place each night at 6 pm MT.
