LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego women's swim fell for the first time at home this Friday afternoon in a dual vs. the Golden Bears.
Cal defeated UC San Diego 183 points to 79. The Triton women are now 4-3 so far this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tritons posted 10 top three finishes over the 14 events. Beginning with the 200 medley relay,
Eva Boehlke,
Chloe Braun,
Miranda Renner, and
Asia Kozan finished third with a time of 1:42.59.
Juli Arzave posted the team's first win in the 1000 free with a time of 10:05.29 for nine points.
Sophia Bell added another three in the same event for finishing in third with a time of 10:15.84.
Eva Boehlke took four points in the 100 back with a time of 54.67 finishing a second behind first place. The gold and blue's second win came in the 200 fly when freshman
Asia Kozan touched the wall 0.37 seconds ahead of Cal with a time of 2:00.49.
Alisa Rangel and
Sandy Li added support in the event with a combined three points.
Miranda Renner took another third-place finish in the 50 free with a time of 23.87 for three more points. In the 200 back, the Tritons took second, third, and fourth for a total of nine points.
Iris Bayan took second with a time of 2:05.02.
In the 200 breast,
Chloe Braun finished with a time of 2:21.01 for three points. Kozan and Bell swam the 500 free to take second and third with times of 4:58.95 and 4:59.19 for a combined seven points. Boehlke added another third-place finish with a time of 4:26.62 in the 400 IM.
Wrapping the meet with the 400 free relay, the Triton relay of Kozan, Renner,
Josette Odgers, and
Bianca Fernandez swam a time of 3:27.88 for the team's final two points of the meet.
UP NEXT
UC San Diego women's swim will join the men's team on the road at Pepperdine for a tri-meet for the women and a dual meet for the men. UC Santa Barbara will join the Tritons and Waves to compete in Malibu with the meet set to start at 11:00 a.m.
