KAPOLEI, Hawai'i — A consistent
Kyle Dougherty is tied for the lead following Wednesday's second round of the Kapolei Invitational in Hawai'i.
UC San Diego fell one spot in the team standings, now tied for seventh heading into Thursday's third and final round.
The University of Hawai'i is hosting the 19-team, three-day tournament at Kapolei Golf Club, just over 20 miles northwest of Honolulu on the island of O'ahu.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dougherty shot a 66 Tuesday and came into today's round tied for third. He carded a second-straight 66 and now shares the lead with LMU's Tony Hendricks. Both players are 12-under par with a 132 on the par-72, 7,001-yard course.
There are 114 players in the field. Four are tied for third place, a single stroke behind Dougherty and Hendricks. Five others are tied for seventh at 10-under.
The Tritons have a second player in the top 20 as
Jerry Wu is tied for 19th at 7-under par. He shot 68 today, one stroke better than his opening round 69. Wu moved up nine spots in the standings Wednesday.
A total of 75 players are under par following 36 holes. Seven are sitting on even par, while 31 are over par. One player withdrew from the tourney.
As a team, UC San Diego is 23-under par with a two-round total of 553. The Tritons shot a 277 today after carding a 276 Tuesday. They are tied for seventh along with BYU, which is ranked 41st in the national rankings.
LMU holds the top spot with a 36-under 540. The Lions are five strokes in front of second-place Texas State and six ahead of Florida Gulf Coast and Baylor, which are tied for third place.
Fifteen teams are under par, two are at even par, and two are 1-over par.
