SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Beginning the fall season with a series of strong performances, the UC San Diego Tritons women's tennis team was in action competing at the ITA Southwest Regionals at both San Diego State and the University of San Diego. The Tritons faced strong competition from across the Western United States, as they faced Pac-12, Mountain West, WCC and Big West programs over the weekend.

After a mixed bag of performances to open up the action on Friday, the Tritons were able to flex their muscles on Saturday to sweep a pair of doubles matches before taking two more singles matches to wrap up the weekend. 

Stand out performances for UC San Diego included strong weekends from Grace Gamal and Polina Jorniak who made the most of their first fall action of the season.

UC San Diego will be back in action in just a couple of weeks as they're set to compete at the SDSU Fall Classic II just down the road from La Jolla beginning on Nov. 3 and wrapping up Nov. 5.
