LA JOLLA, Calif. – With three games left in the season, UC San Diego men's soccer travels north on Wednesday, Oct. 18 to face CSUN on the road before returning to La Jolla to host UC Davis on Saturday, Oct. 21 for senior night. Both games are set to kickoff at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.

The Tritons are entering the week on a two-game winning streak after two hard fought wins against UC Riverside and Cal State Bakersfield. On the road at UCR, UC San Diego pulled off a five-goal comeback after getting down 2-0 in the first half. Against Cal State Bakersfield, eight Tritons fought to bury a goal as the score remained 0-0 until the final minute.

CSUN (3-6-6; 1-3-2) comes off a similar win against UC Irvine. The Matadors were able to snag the win in the final minute for a 1-0 victory. The black and red went 1-0-1 over the last week and currently sit in ninth place in the conference. The last time the Tritons and Matadors met, UC San Diego fell to the Matadors in a 1-0 loss.

UC Davis enters the week 5-6-3 overall and 2-3-1 in Big West play. The Aggies went 0-1-1 last week falling to UCR and tying with CSUN. UCD is currently in a three-way tie for sixth place. The last time the Tritons met the Aggies, UC San Diego defeated the Aggies on the road on a lone goal for a 1-0 result.

WILSON EARNS BIG WEST HONORS
Following the opening week of Big West, goalkeeperÂ
Mitchell Wilson earns Big West Defensive Player of the Week honors after a career week in between the pipes.

Opening conference play vs. conference favorite, UC Santa Barbara, at home and Sacramento State on the road, Wilson played a total of 180 minutes facing 28 shots to record 12 saves and two clean sheets. Against the Gauchos, the senior guided the defense to a shutout performance after facing 13 shots and making three critical saves to allow the Tritons to win 3-0.

Traveling to Sac State on Saturday, he held the line at 0-0 against the Hornets as he made a career-high nine saves against a total of 15 shots. The nine saves are the second highest saves in Big West play and the third highest for a single game so far this season.

The Hunting Beach product is third in the conference for saves per game at 4.14/game, and has gotten the Tritons off to the best conference start in the Division I era. This is the fourth time UC San Diego has earned conference weekly honors from the Big West and Wilson is the third Triton to earn the honors joiningÂ

About UC San Diego Athletics
After two decades as one of the most successful programs in NCAA Division II, the UC San Diego intercollegiate athletics program began a new era in 2020 as a member of The Big West in NCAA Division I.
