LOS ANGELES – The
UC San Diego swim teams opened the 2023-24 season on the road at USC for the first day of the two-day invite. The Trojans hosted UC San Diego along with Hawai'i and UC Santa Barbara. Day one consisted of the 400 medley relay, 500 free, 100 back, 200 IM, and 50 free.
Competing in a dual with each team present, the Triton men are behind UH, UCSB, an USC. The Triton women are behind USC, but ahead of UCSB and UH.
ON THE MEN'S SIDE
Opening the invite with a fifth-place finish,
Nathan Lee,
Colton Milne,
Chad Morrison, and
Andrija Petkovic swam a 3:16.92 time in the 400 medley relay.
Swimming the lengthy 500 free,
Devin Esser posted time of 4:30.24 for seventh place among the pool of 19. Lee added a sixth-place finish for the Tritons in the 200 IM with a time of 1:48.76.
Petkovic put the pressure on in the 50 free as he finished 0.05 seconds behind second and 0.38 behind first place.
ON THE WOMEN'S SIDE
The Triton women opened the invite with a top five-finish in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:39.70. The relay squad was made up of
Eva Boehlke,
Chloe Braun,
Sandy Li, and
Miranda Renner.
Juli Arzave and
Sophie Francis finished fourth and fifth respectively in the taxing 500 free. Arzave got the edge by two seconds with a time of 4:50.39 to Francis' 4:52.03.
It was a close race in the 100 back as second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth place finished between the 0.25 mark and the 0.83 mark.
Teagan Monroe finished at 55.83, just 0.58 seconds from second place to take sixth.
Boehlke finished third for the gold and blue in the 200 IM just four 100ths behind second place. The freshman posted a time of 2:00.68.
In the 50 free, Renner tied the team record – which she already held – with a time of 22.79 to take third place for the Tritons.

UP NEXT
The Tritons will continue the USC Invite with two sessions on Saturday, Oct. 14. The a.m. session will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by a session at approximately 12:30 p.m. (third session will begin roughly one hour following the conclusion of the second session).
