HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tritons came away with five victories on the day led by seniors
Katja Pavicevic and
Juli Arzave.

In the 1000 yard freestyle, Arzave finished a full six seconds ahead of her opponents and set a new facility record with a time of 10:03.57. Arzave now holds the facility and team record for the Tritons.
Aneta Wyzga drew a close second in the 200 yard freestyle finishing 0.63 seconds behind first with a time of 1:51.14. Pavicevic took the second Triton victory in the 100 yard breaststroke breaking her own facility record that she recently set in November 2022. She posted a time of 1:01.78, finishing 0.45 ahead of the Bruins.

Valerie Yue put the pressure on UCLA in the 200 yard butterfly, finishing 0.09 seconds behind first place. Pavicevic then broke the 2018 facility record in the 200 yard breaststroke swimming a NCAA B Cut time of 2:13.58. She now holds the team record and facility record in the 100 yard and 200 yard breaststroke. In the 500 yard freestyle, Arzave held it down for the Tritons as she took first with a time of 4:53.95 with here last split being the fast length of the entire swim.

The Tritons ended the meet on a high note with their fifth and final victory. Coming within a second of the facility record,
Miranda Renner,
Tina Reuter,
Jordan Phillips, and
Josette Odgers won the 200 yard freestyle relay in heroic fashion by just 0.03 seconds.

QUOTABLE
"This was a great meet for the Triton women," commented head coach
Marko Djordjevic. "We were very competitive today and I am very proud of our performance in the distance events and the breaststroke events as well."

He added, "the highlight of the meet was the win in the last relay. This is definitely going to continue our momentum for the rest of the season."

UP NEXT
The Triton diving squad will travel to UCLA for the UCLA Diving Invitational held from Jan. 13-15. The swim squads will head to Los Angeles on Jan. 14 to compete against the USC Trojans in a dual meet.
