Courtney Okumura

COURTNEY OKUMURA, FR., WOMEN'S WATER POLO


In her first-ever Big West Conference tournament action, freshman attacker Courtney Okumura helped lift the No. 5 Tritons to an upset win over No. 4 UC Davis with four goals (tied for the team lead). Her first three goals all came in the first half, helping lift the Tritons out of an early 3-0 deficit before netting the first goal of the third period, which gave the Tritons their first lead of the night, and eventually helped UC San Diego to their first Big West Conference tournament win in program history.

Francis Catalano

FRANCIS CATALANO, FR., GOLF


True freshman Francis Catalano placed a career-best third in the 84-player field at the El Macero Classic, hosted by UC Davis at El Macero Country Club. Catalano shot a 5-under par 67 in the third and final round to finish with a 6-under 210. His 67 tied for the best single round by a Triton and his 210 was the second-lowest total by a Triton in a three-round tournament during the team's 2021-22 season. Catalano also had rounds of 71 (-1) and 72 (even). Catalano holed 14 birdies over the 54-hole tournament, the third-most by any player. It marked the second time that he finished an event as the top Triton this season.

Ciara Franke

CIARA FRANKE, GRAD, WOMEN'S WATER POLO


Ciara Franke led 12th-ranked UC San Diego to earn Harper Cup MVP honors in a 13-8 win over No. 20 San Diego State on Saturday, leading the team with four goals and three steals in the team's final regular season game. Franke moved up to 6th all-time in goals in UC San Diego history with 206. She leads the Tritons in goals (52) and steals (24) this season, and has scored three or more goals in 13 of 23 games played.

Kalobe Jimenez

KALOBE JIMENEZ, JR., TRACK & FIELD


Kalobe Jimenez stood out among the eleven Tritons who set top-ten all-time track and field marks this weekend, doing so in both the 110-meter hurdles (14.18 seconds, third all time) and 200-meter dash (21.52 seconds, fourth all time) at the Beach Invitational on Saturday. Jimenez is only the third Triton to set multiple top-ten all-time marks at a single event this season.

Jake Selstad

JAKE SELSTAD, TRACK & FIELD, SR., DISTANCE


Jake Selstad broke the UC San Diego record in the 800-meter run on home soil Saturday, becoming the first Triton to finish the race in under 1:50 with a time of 1:49.97 at the Triton Invitational. Selstad's record-breaking pace earned him first place and was the fastest 800-meter time set by any athlete across the Big West Conference on the weekend.

Bugelli, Bennett

BENNETT BUGELLI, WOMEN'S WATER POLO, GRAD STUDENT., G


In the 12th-ranked Tritons' 10-6 road win against No. 17 UC Santa Barbara, Bennett Bugelli led the defense, making a season-high 15 saves in just three periods of work. Bugelli also contributed an assist. The UC San Diego netminder now has five games this season in which she made 10-plus saves, including three Big West matches. In her career, Bugelli ranks 5th all-time in saves with 787..

Jada Cecil

JADA CECIL, SOFTBALL, FR, RHP

In her two appearances over the weekend, Jada pitched a total of 255 pitches, allowing one run over 15 innings, 6 hits with 29 strikeouts and four walks. She struck out over 50% of the batters she faced this weekend. Opening the series against Hawai'i with a shutout, Jada broke the UC San Diego program single-game strikeout record, again, with 16 strikeouts over 7 innings. This is her second shut of the season and the sixth game without an earned run in five or more innings pitched. In the final game of the series, she pitched another gem, recording 13 strikeouts in 8 innings. Jada finished with an ERA of 0.47 this weekend and the Rainbow Wahine were batting an average of .111 against her. She leads the Big West in total wins (12), opposing batting average (.151), strikeouts (157), and batters struck out looking (44).

Zach Ernisse

ZACH ERNISSE, BASEBALL, FR, LHP

UC San Diego's Zach Ernisse turned in two strong performances in relief to help the Tritons go 3-1 on the week. The lefthander tallied eight strikeouts in 4.2 innings of work, allowing just one run. Ernisse earned the win over San Diego State on Tuesday after retiring all six batters faced, including five consecutive strikeouts.

Shawn Kim

SHAWN KIM, JR, FENCING, SABER

Junior Shawn Kim placed third in Men's Sabre at the NCAA National Collegiate Fencing Championships Sunday at the University of Notre Dame. Kim's finish tied the highest-ever placing by a Triton at Nationals and helped UC San Diego finish 13thof 27 teams, which equaled the team's best finish at a full-field Nationals. Kim earned All-America status for his performance. He compiled an impressive 18-5 record over two days of bouts. The 2022 West Region Men's Sabre Champion finished with a +34 indicator with 104 touches scored and 70 touches received. In the semifinal round, Kim was defeated by Harvard's Filip Dolegiewicz, who went on to win the national title. Notable victories for Kim included defeating Luke Linder of Notre Dame, the 2021 Men's Sabre National Champion. He also topped Notre Dame's Jared Smith and Penn State's Clement Perrier. Smith was a Nationals finalist in 2021, while Perrier reached the semifinals.

Ciara Franke

CIARA FRANKE, GRAD, WOMEN'S WATER POLO

Ciara Franke led 12th-ranked UC San Diego offensively and defensively on Senior Day in a win over No. 17 Loyola Marymount on Sunday at Canyonview Pool, leading the team with four goals and three steals. With the performance, Franke moved up to 10th all-time in goals in UC San Diego history with 199, needing just two more goals to claim ninth place. Franke is just three steals away from 10th place in school history as well. She leads the Tritons in goals (46) and steals (20) this season.

PELAYO RODRIGUEZ (FR.) and PHILLIP LAN (JR.), MEN'S TENNIS

UC San Diego's pair of Pelayo Rodriguez (pictured left) and Phillip Lan (pictured right) have established themselves as a force at No. 3 doubles recently. 
On Sunday, they secured a 6-4 win against Dartmouth, their fourth straight, and their fifth in the last six matches.

Katelyn Vu Naomi Nguyen

KATELYN VU and NAOMI NGUYEN, WOMEN'S TENNIS, FR.

UC San Diego's freshmen tandem of Katelyn Vu (pictured left) and Naomi Nguyen (pictured right) continued to excel at second doubles for the Tritons. 
In their lone match of the week, the pair earned a 6-4 win over their Dartmouth foes on Sunday afternoon.
Vu and Nguyen have won three straight matches as a pair at second doubles dating back to Feb. 17. Overall, the duo has a 5-2 record in the second position.

Shawn Kim

SHAWN KIM, JR, FENCING, SABER

Junior saber fencer Shawn Kim won two major titles in two days this past week. First, he successfully defended his West Region Saber Champion title as he topped the field at Saturday's NCAA West Regional in San Antonio, Texas. His win automatically qualified him for the upcoming NCAA National Collegiate Fencing Championships. Kim went 9-2 in pool action with a +17 indicator (52 touches scored vs. 35 touches received) to come out on top. He won the title in 2020 as a true freshman and had to wait two years to repeat as the 2021 West Regionals were canceled due to COVID. The following day in Texas, Kim earned his second crown of the weekend as he won the Men's Saber division at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Championships. Once again, Kim won his first match-up, 15-14, against Stanford's Noah Matricciani before taking down his teammate, senior Justin Park, by a score of 15-14 in the title match. Kim is the first-ever MPSF Men's Saber Champion as this is the first season that the conference is sponsoring the sport.

Sarah Shen

SARAH SHEN, JR, FENCING, SABER

Junior saber fencer Sarah Shen fenced her way to a NCAA West Region Saber Champion title Saturday as she came out on top at the West Regionals in San Antonio, Texas. Shen went 8-2 with a +19 (45 touches scored vs. 26 touches received) in pool play to pick up her first career title. The following day, Shen placed second in Saber at the inaugural Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Championships. In direct elimination rounds, she earned a 15-11 victory against Stanford's Charlotte He to advance to the title bout, where she fell by a single point, 14-15, to Erin Shea of Air Force.

Bugelli, Bennett

EMILY CANGELOSI, WOMEN'S BASKETBALL, R-SR., GUARD

Senior Emily Cangelosi recorded a career-high 17 points, adding eight rebounds on Senior Day for UC San Diego. Cangelosi averaged 12.5 points per game and six rebounds to help the Tritons go 2-0 in their final week of competition, finishing with their first winning Big West record. Cangelosi made the pivotal steal and score to send Thursday's game to overtime and made the game-winning basket to defeat CSU Bakersfield, 73-69. She followed that up with a career-day in her final game at RIMAC Arena, helping the Tritons to a 90-48 victory over Cal Poly.

Kyle McCauley

KYLE McCAULEY, MEN's VOLLEYBALL, SR., OUTSIDE HITTER

Kyle McCauley averaged 4.9 points/set, 4.5 kills/set, and 0.3 aces/set, all team-highs, as 10th-ranked UC San Diego split a pair of matches at home against No. 3 Hawaii. In the first contest, he posted match-highs with 19 kills and 12 digs to lead the Tritons to their first win against the Rainbow Warriors in La Jolla since 2011. The victory snapped an 11-match conference win streak for Hawaii. Two nights later, McCauley logged another match-high with 17 kills on .345 hitting.

Marc Filia

MARC FILIA, JR. OF/ C, BASEBALL

UC San Diego's Marc Filia hit .444 (8-for-18) over five games, including three home runs and two doubles, to help the Tritons go 3-2 on the week against Pac-12 opponents. Filia knocked in seven RBI and added four runs scored for a 1.056 slugging percentage as the Tritons defeated USC on Tuesday and split a four-game series with Washington over the weekend.

Sophia Real

SOPHIA REAL, JR, 3B/1B, SOFTBALL

Over five games at the Mary Nutter Classic, Sophia Real hit .600 (9-for-15), recorded 10 total bases and an average .647 on base percentage. Real had the best batting average and on base percentage out of all 27 teams at the Classic and tied third for most hits. Her slugging percentage for the weekend was .667 with one RBI brought in.

Anthony Lucchetti

ANTHONY LUCCHETTI, BASEBALL, GR, DH

UC San Diego's Anthony Lucchetti hit .471 on opening weekend with eight hits and seven RBI for the Tritons in the series win over Seattle. The graduate student tallied three doubles, a home run and six runs scored to help the Tritons begin the season 3-1. Lucchetti recorded an on-base percentage of .550 and team-best .824 slugging percentage, also registering a walk and two hit-by-pitches.

Jordan Phillips

200 FREESTYLE RELAY TEAM, WOMEN'S SWIMMING

The women swam hard in the 200 yard freestyle relay taking first and finishing at 1:30.41; only .002 off the oldest MPSF women's record from 2013. It did however break the Tritons' team record. The team was made up of senior Tina Reuter, junior Miranda Renner, senior Brittney Miles, and senior Jordan Phillips (pictured). The Triton women went on to win the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championships, snapping Hawaii's five year streak.

Jada Cecil

JADA CECIL, SOFTBALL, FR., RHP

On her career opening weekend with the Tritons, Jada Cecil was the primary pitcher against the Nevada Wolf Pack and the LMU Lions, she even pitched an inning against #3 UCLA. In the Nevada game, Cecil faced 16 batters and struck 12 of them out. She allowed no runs to be scored in her five innings on the mound and kept the Wolf Pack swinging with three flyouts. Against the Lions, Cecil pitched all seven innings, recording four more strikeouts, 12 flyouts, and 5 groundouts. The Lions were only able to squeeze two runs out of Cecil. As she led from the circle, the Tritons defense was able to force LMU to leave nine runners on base over the course of the game. In her inning against the Bruins, Cecil faced three batters. She recorded no hits, no runs, one strikeout, and two flyouts. She is now 2-0 in her collegiate pitching career.

Kyle McCauley

KYLE McCAULEY, MEN's VOLLEYBALL, SR., OUTSIDE HITTER

McCauley led No. 14 UC San Diego to two five-set wins at No. 11 BYU by averaging 4.11 points/set, 1.79 digs/set and 0.5 aces/set, all team-bests. On Friday, the Tritons came back from two sets down to earn their first-ever victory over the Cougars. McCauley produced a team-high 20 kills to go along with 8 blocks, 7 digs, and 2 aces. Fittingly, he had the final kill of the historic match. The next night, McCauley totaled 11 kills, 9 digs, 3 blocks, 3 aces, and 3 assists.

Ella Pachl

ELLA PACHL, WOMEN'S TENNIS, SO.

UC San Diego sophomore Ella Pachl was unbeaten for the Tritons on the weekend. She teamed with junior Sophie Pearson at No. 1 doubles for a pair of victories: 6-4 over Pacific on Friday and 6-3 over UC Irvine on Saturday. Playing at the top spot in singles action, Pachl posted a tidy 6-3, 6-3 win over Irvine on Saturday to help the Tritons to a 5-2 victory in their first Big West match. On Friday, Pachl led 3-1 in the third set at No. 1 singles when the match was halted. For the week, she was 2-0 in doubles and 1-0 in singles.

Justin Park

JUSTIN PARK, MEN'S FENCING, SR., SABER

Senior fencer Justin Park posted an impressive 19-5 record in men's saber at the prestigious Northwestern Duals in Evanston, Ill., this past weekend. His efforts helped the Tritons to a winning 6-4 record with victories against No. 9 North Carolina, Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy, Incarnate Word, Lawrence, and Wayne State. The Tritons also faced off against No. 1 Notre Dame and No. 4 Ohio State. Park is now the top saber fencer in the West Region after his strong performance at Northwestern.

Bugelli, Bennett

EMILY CANGELOSI, WOMEN'S BASKETBALL, RS-SENIOR, GUARD

UC San Diego redshirt senior Emily Cangelosi matched her career high with 16 points in back-to-back games, shooting 48 percent (12-of-25) over the weekend to help the Tritons go 2-0. On Thursday, Cangelosi finished with 16 points on 7-of-14 shooting, adding eight rebounds and three assists in a 69-58 victory over Cal Poly. She followed up that performance on Saturday with 16 points, including four three-pointers, adding nine rebounds and one assist in a 64-59 victory at CSU Bakersfield.

Spencer Daily

IVAN KURAKIN, MEN'S SWIM, SENIOR, FREESTYLE/BACKSTROKE

Helping the Tritons to a 172-117 victory over California Baptist, Ivan Kurakin swam a 1:37.81 in the 200 yard freestyle, taking first and breaking the pool record for that event. He holds both the team and pool record in the 200 yard freestyle and the team record in the 500 yard freestyle. On Saturday in the 500 yard freestyle the men took the top four slots led by Kurakin, who posted a 4:30.04.

Bugelli, Bennett

BENNETT BUGELLI, WOMEN'S WATER POLO, GRAD STUDENT., G


Graduate student goalkeeper Bennett Bugelli led No. 9 UC San Diego to a solid 2-2 start to the season this past week. In the Tritons' first game against No. 23 Wagner, she finished with 12 saves, which moved her from ninth to fifth all-time in the category in UCSD women's water polo history. Bugelli was also credited by head coach Brad Kreutzkamp as being integral to the team's two wins, as the Tritons held opponents to single-digits in three of the four matches they played this weekend, with all matches played against top-25 opponents.

Spencer Daily

SPENCER DAILY, MEN'S SWIM, SENIOR, BUTTERFLY/FREESTYLE


Spencer Daily helped lead the Triton men to a 174.5-119.5 victory over Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday. Daily contributed 27 points by taking first in the 100 yard freestyle, 100 yard butterfly, and 200 yard freestyle relay, where he swam the first leg. His 100 yard freestyle swim was 2.12 seconds away from the team record for the event. The 200 yard freestyle relay team consisted of Daily, Nate Cunnan, Andrija Petkovic, and Tyler James.

Brown, Sydney

SYDNEY BROWN, WOMEN'S BASKETBALL, SR., G/F


Senior Sydney Brown collected 32 points and 18 rebounds to help the Tritons go 1-1 last week. The Rexford, N.Y. native put up seven points, two rebounds and three assists in a hard-fought loss to UC Irvine on Tuesday. Brown recorded her best performance of the season in an 82-58 victory over Hawai'i on Thursday. She finished with 25 points, including 5-of-11 from three-point range and recorded career highs in rebounds (16) and assists (6), adding one steal in the contest.

Kyle McCauley

KYLE McCAULEY, MEN'S VOLLEYBALL, SR., OH


Senior outside hitter Kyle McCauley led No. 10 UC San Diego to a perfect 2-0 start to the season this past week. In the Tritons' first win over No. 12 Stanford since 2011, he finished with a team-best 14 kills as well as seven digs, two service aces, two assists, and a block in the sweep. The night prior against Harvard, McCauley logged a match-high 17 kills and added five digs, two blocks (one solo), and an ace. Over the two victories, he had a team-best 36 points.

Aishah Brown

AISHAH BROWN, WOMEN'S BASKETBALL, SO., F


UC San Diego's Aishah Brown averaged a double-double to help the Tritons go 2-0 to open conference play. The sophomore forward tallied a career-best 19 points and 16 rebounds in Thursday's 60-57 win over UC Riverside. On Saturday, Brown added five points and 10 rebounds in the 59-56 victory over UC Davis.

Jake Killingsworth

JAKE KILLINGSWORTH, MEN'S BASKETBALL, GR., G


UC San Diego guard Jake Killingsworth has averaged 12.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game through the Tritons' first four conference games, while shooting 50% (12-24) from beyond the arc and 52% overall from the floor.

McInnes, Ava

SYDNEY BROWN, WOMEN'S BASKETBALL, SR., GUARD/FORWARD


UC San Diego forward Sydney Brown averaged a double-double with 11.5 points and 10.0 rebounds for the Tritons in their two games last week. On Tuesday, the senior tallied her second double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds against California Baptist and recorded a team-best 13 points and nine rebounds at San Diego State on Friday evening. Brown finished the week with 23 points, 20 rebounds, four blocks and four assists for the Tritons.

Calder Hilde-Jones

LUNDEN TAYLOR, MEN'S BASKETBALL, JR., GUARD


UC San Diego guard Lunden Taylor scored a career-high 11 points and dished out a personal-best three assists off the bench in the Tritons' 93-52 win over Caltech at RIMAC Arena. In 12 minutes played, Taylor didn't miss a shot, going 2-2 FG (including 1-1 from beyond the three-point arc) and hitting all six of his free throw tries.

JULIA HILL, WOMEN'S FENCING, SR., SABER

Senior fencer Julia Hill was outstanding at this past weekend's Elite Invitational at Ohio State. She recorded a 18-3 record in Women's Saber against some of the top competition in the country including No. 5 Ohio State, No. 6 Northwestern, and No. 10 Penn. The UC San Diego women are receiving votes in the first national poll of the season.

Calder Hilde-Jones

MILAN RONA, MEN'S FENCING, FR., EPEE

Freshman fencer Milan Rona posted an impressive 14-2 record in Men's Epee this past weekend at Ohio State's Elite Invitational. His performances helped the ninth-ranked Tritons to a 5-1 showing, which included victories over Cleveland, Johns Hopkins, Ohio State, Penn, and Wayne State. It was UC San Diego's first-ever win against both Ohio State and Penn. The Buckeyes are ranked third in the country, while the Quakers are seventh. Of note, Rona had a three-hour math final Saturday night before going undefeated Sunday.

McInnes, Ava

AVA MCINNES, WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL, FR., OH

Freshman outside hitter Ava McInnes averaged a team-high 4.7 points/set and 4.0 kills/set over two Big West matches at home this past week. Against CSU Bakersfield, she put down a match-high 23 kills, the third time this season she's finished with more than 20. Ava also added four service aces, establishing a new career-best in the process. The next night against Cal Poly, McInnes had a team-high nine kills to go along with two digs and a block. She finished UC San Diego's first Division I competitive season as the Tritons' leader in kills, points, attack attempts, and aces and ranked fourth in digs and blocks. This is the third time this season that Ava has won the weekly award.

Calder Hilde-Jones

CALDER HILDE-JONES, MEN'S WATER POLO, RS-SR.

Named to the Western Water Polo Association All-Tournament First Team, Triton senior Calder Hilde-Jones totaled nine goals over three matches at the conference championship tournament. He scored a career-high five goals against California Baptist and two against both Concordia and Loyola Marymount. Calder finished the season as the Tritons' goal scoring leader with 59 after finding the net at least once in all 24 of the team's matches. Hilde-Jones scored multiple goals in 19 of 24 contests. This is the third time this season that Calder has won the weekly award.

Pavicevic, Katja

KATJA PAVICEVIC, SWIMMING & DIVING, JR., BREAST/MEDLEY

Triton junior Katja Pavicevic set a school record in the 200 breast on day three of the Trailblazer Invitational, hosted by Dixie State. Pavicevic's time of 2:13.16 was good for first place overall. The Ontario native was also part of UC San Diego's victorious 200 medley relay team on day two of the event, helping the UC San Diego women take first place in the 10-team meet.

Francis Nwaokorie

FRANCIS NWAOKORIE, MEN'S BASKETBALL, FR., F

UC San Diego freshman forward Francis Nwaokorie has made quite an impact off the bench. The Minnesota native averaged 11.5 points on 64.3% shooting (9-14 FG overall, including 2-4 3FG) over 22 minutes per game, helping the Tritons to two more victories last week. Nwaokorie averaged 4.5 rebounds per game in the wins with three steals and two blocked shots. UC San Diego is the lone unbeaten Big West team remaining, and thanks to the 4-0 start, the Tritons now have a winning record all-time in Division I.

Brown, Sydney

SYDNEY BROWN, WOMEN'S BASKETBALL, SR., G/F

UC San Diego forward Sydney Brown recorded her first double-double of the season, finishing with 11 points and 12 rebounds in a 60-44 victory over Seattle on Saturday. The senior also added two steals, a block and an assist in the contest. Brown also recorded double-digit points against Portland in the season opener on Thursday, finishing with 13 points and eight rebounds—averaging 12 points and 10 rebounds per game in the opening week.

Toni Rocak

TONI ROCAK, MEN'S BASKETBALL, SR., F

UC San Diego forward Toni Rocak led the Tritons to a pair of wins to open the season. He scored a career-high 27 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the Tritons' 13-point win at Cal – UC San Diego's first ever Division I road win. On Saturday, he added 11 points and 7 rebounds as the Tritons downed George Washington – UC San Diego's fourth straight win dating back to last season. For the week, Rocak averaged 19 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, shooting 55%.

TYLER JAMES, MEN'S SWIMMING, GR

Tyler James recorded a new National Invitational Championship qualifying time of 49.08 (B-cut) to win the 100-yard backstroke on Saturday afternoon at Canyonview Aquatic Center. The graduate student placed first in the event, as well as helping the 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relay teams finish on top of the podium and earn UC San Diego swimming and diving the program's first victory over UC Santa Barbara.

Sarah Shen

SARAH SHEN, WOMEN'S FENCING, JR, SABER

Earned her first career podium as a Triton with a third-place finish in Division 1-A Women's Saber at UC San Diego's prestigious BladeRunner tournament…Was defeated in a semi-final against former World Champion Natalia Botello of Mexico, who went on to win the weapon…Went 5-1 in pool action with a +18 indicator, the second-best in her pool (behind Botello).

Max Carvalho

MAX CARVALHO, MEN'S SOCCER, FR., FORWARD

UC San Diego freshman forward Max Carvalho picked a great time to score his first collegiate goal. Carvalho's strike in the 87th minute lifted the Tritons to a 2-1 victory Saturday night at UC Riverside in the season's final match. Carvalho became the fifth different UC San Diego player with a game-winner in 2021. Carvalho emerged late in the season for the Tritons, earning the start in the team's final five matches.

JULI ARZAVE, WOMEN'S SWIM, JR.

Juli Arzave swept the distance events to help UC San Diego women's swimming and diving earn a 158.5-127.5 victory over UC Davis on Saturday afternoon. The junior placed first in the  1650-yard freestyle with a B-cut time of 17:06.52 and also took first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:01.41.

UC San Diego senior captain Kameryn Hoban scored the game-winning goal off the bench as the Tritons downed UC Riverside on Thursday night. It was Hoban's second goal of the season and the fifth of her career.

Calder Hilde-Jones

CALDER HILDE-JONES, MEN'S WATER POLO, RS-SR.

Calder Hilde-Jones scored four of No. 11 UC San Diego's seven goals against No. 15 Loyola Marymount at home…The four goals made him the Tritons' scoring leader with 42 on the season.

Placed 4th out of 79 players at CSUN's Bill CullumInvitational, the Tritons' best individual finish of the season…Shot rounds of 68, 75, and 74 to complete the tournament with a 1-over par 217…Was just one stroke back of the second-place finisher…His 68 in the opening round was the lowest single-round score by any Triton during the event…UC San Diego tied for 5th of 12 teams, the team's highest placing of the season.

At Long Beach State: Career- and team-high 15 kills and 19 points...Career- and match-high 7 blocks...Hit team-best .387 (15-3-31). Versus Cal State Fullerton: Match-highs with 14 kills and 18 points...Match-best .379 (14-3-29) hitting percentage...Also added 3 blocks, 3 digs, and 2 aces.

Freshman led Tritons with her 3.67 kills per set and 4.06 points per set averages over two Big West Conference home matches…Established a new season-best with 18.5 points against UC Irvine…Had a team-high 16 kills while adding 12 digs, two service aces, a block, and an assist vs. Anteaters…Against league-leading Hawaii, had a season-high and team-high 17 kills to go along with eight digs, three assists, and two blocks…Karacaova has posted a double-double in four of her last five matches…She has put up a double-digit kill total in nine of 12 matches this season.
Manuel Augusto

MANUEL AUGUSTO, MEN'S WATER POLO, RS-JR.

Against No. 7 Long Beach State at home, the team's lone match of the week, Augusto led UC San Diego with five total points on three goals and two assists…Also launched a team-high eight shots and added two steals to his stat line…Scored one of his goals on a penalty shot in the second quarter…His fourth-quarter goal came on a power play.

UC San Diego senior defender Jonah Bryan scored his second goal of the season as the Tritons downed Cal State Fullerton for the program's first-ever Big West win. The Tritons are 1-1 in Big West play, allowing just 1.0 goals against.

Emily McDaniel led the Tritons to a 2-0 Big West week, including a win in the team's first home match in 692 days...Averaged 4.0 points/set and 1.0 block/set, both team-highs...Career-high 14 kills and team-best 16.5 points vs. UCD...Hit .462 and finished with 3 blocks (2 solos) vs. Aggies...15.5 points and 5 blocks (4 solos) vs. UCR...Has at least 10 kills in last 8 matches.

Isabela Dobra

ISABELA DOBRA, WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL, SR., SETTER

Senior setter Isabela Dobra led UC San Diego to first-ever Big West win at CSUN by setting the Tritons to a .262 attack, their second-best of the season. She posted match-highs with 38 assists and three aces while also adding nine digs. At UC Santa Barbara the night prior, Dobra recorded her sixth double-double of the season with a match-high 35 assists and a team-best 19 digs. She also equaled a career-high with three kills against the Gauchos.

Calder Hilde-Jones

CALDER HILDE-JONES, MEN'S WATER POLO, RS-SR., UTILITY

Over five matches this past week, Calder Hilde-Jones scored a team-best 14 goals, an average of almost three per game, for No. 9 UC San Diego. In fact, he had multiple goals in all five games, including four in a win against No. 13 UC Irvine. The senior is the only Triton to have scored at least one goal in all 14 of the team's games this season and he is tied for the team scoring lead with 31 goals.

In the team's lone match of the week, UC San Diego sophomore forward Omar Sabbagh scored both goals in the Tritons' 2-0 win at San José State on Thursday evening. The pair of goals was the first of Sabbagh's career, and the win was UC San Diego's first over a Division I opponent.

Kennedy Carter

KENNEDY CARTER, WOMEN'S SOCCER, SO., F

UC San Diego sophomore forward scored both goals in UC San Diego's non-conference victory over CSUN on Thursday night in Northridge. A converted defender,  Kennedy Carter leads the Tritons and is tied for second in the Big West with four goals scored this season.

Manuel Augusto

Manuel Augusto led eighth-ranked UC San Diego in point production over three matches, totaling 10 points on six goals and four assists. He had at least one goal in all three contests. The junior from Portugal was on fire in a 19-4 win against Concordia in the Tritons' first WWPA match of the season. He netted four goals and assisted on another four while adding a steal to his stat line. He also scored single goals against both No. 1 UCLA (15-8 loss) and Whittier (20-7 win).

Ava McInnes

AVA McINNES, WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL, SO., MB,

 Sophomore outside hitter Ava McInnes was named to the New Mexico Classic All-Tournament Team after helping lead UC San Diego to a 2-1 mark, including the team's first-ever NCAA Division I victory. McInnes averaged 4.2 points and 3.2 points, both team-highs, and totaled 10 blocks, including four solos, over 10 sets. She had a team-high nine kills while adding three blocks against Seattle to open the tourney. In the Tritons' inaugural Division I win against Southeastern Louisiana, McInnes logged a match-high 15 kills with a career-best five blocks and five digs. Finally, in a sweep of host New Mexico, she finished with eight kills, a career-high three service aces, nine digs, and two blocks. The Lobos came into the match with an 8-0 record.

Kennedy Carter

KENNEDY CARTER, WOMEN'S SOCCER, SO., F

UC San Diego sophomore forwards Kennedy Carter scored the game-winning goal in the 94th minute at Southern Utah on Tuesday, lifting the Tritons to their first-ever Division I victory. Through five matches this season, she leads UC San Diego in goals (2), points (4), and shots on goal (7).

Vedran Latkovic

VEDRAN LATKOVIC, MEN'S WATER POLO, JR.

Redshirt junior Vedran Latkovic of the UC San Diego men's water polo team helped the Tritons to a 3-1 showing at the 2021 Triton Invite with wins over Occidental, Westcliff and No. 5 Pepperdine. Over the course of four games, Latkovicwas an offensive threat, scoring a team-high nine goals. He also contributed five assists and four steals overall, while generating a shooting percentage of .391. In game two, against fifth-ranked Pepperdine, Latkovic had himself a game, tallying four goals in seven shot attempts and dished out three assists.

Nick Cirrito

UC San Diego senior Nick Cirrito scored the program's first-ever Division I goal – a beautiful strike from the top of the 18 in the 66th minute of the Tritons' match at UNLV on Sunday night. His seven career goals are the most of any active Triton.

Ava McInnes

AVA McINNES, SO., MB, WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
 
Making her Triton debut, Ava McInnes led UC San Diego in kills in two of three matches at Cactus Classic with 24 against Marist and 7 against host Arizona ... Also had 10 kills vs. New Mexico State ... Her 24 kills were the most by a Triton in a single match since December of 2015 ... She also added 24 digs vs. Marist for her first career double-double ... That was the most digs by a Triton in a single match since September of 2019.
