IRVINE, Calif. — UC San Diego's track and field team collected nine event wins and scored a combined 323 points en route to first- and second-place team finishes at the Vince O'Boyle Track & Field Classic on Friday and Saturday.

The Tritons finished first on the women's side of the competition with 173 points and second on the men's side, behind the hosts UC Irvine, with 150 points. In total, 12 of UC San Diego's results from the weekend, set by 11Â different Tritons, establish new top-ten marks in school history. Junior thrower

"This has to be one of the best single days ever across the team," Co-Head Coach
Tony Salerno said. "The team score was a bit of a surprise. We didn't think we would score quit so well, as we sat a number of people out of their primary events after the big meet at San Diego State last week".

- The women's 4x100-meter Relay team of Lizzie Dolan, Idara Ibekwe, Jenna Mencarelli, and Mckenna Meaney just missed out on the number ten spot in Triton history, finishing 0.02 seconds shy of the current mark
- Tritons posted the nine fastest times in the men's 5000-meter Run on Saturday
- UC San Diego's combined score of 323 points between their men's and women's teams was the second-highest total in the field
UP NEXT
UC San Diego returns home to Triton Track & Field Stadium to host the Triton Invitational, April 8-9. The field is expected to include approximately 1000 competitors, including multiple Olympians.
