Tritons Sweep Aztec Invite with Eighth Consecutive Win

SAN DIEGO – Continuing their solid play, the 13th-ranked UC San Diego women's water polo team (16-7, 2-0 BWC) defeated Bucknell 14-3 in their final match of the Aztec Invite on Sunday at San Diego State.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tritons wasted no time in this one, getting out to a 5-0 lead at the end of the first period, thanks largely to four goals coming from Lucia Doak. The second period saw UC San Diego deposit three more scores, with Carson Rampelberg and Karis Couch joining Doak to push the lead to 8-2 at halftime.

In the second half, the Tritons continued their offensive success, with Chloe Pena and Tania Frank each netting a pair of goals as part of a 6-1 stretch across the final two periods. UC San Diego utilized three different netminders in the win, with Katie Ward, Lexi Stahl, and Madisongrace Guerra each collecting three saves.

QUOTABLE
"Lucia [Doak] continues her improvement in all facets of the game," said UC San Diego head coach Brad Kreutzkamp. "We always knew she would be an offensive threat but I'm very happy to see how she's improving on defense as well."
