LOS ANGELES – The Tritons finished day two of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation conference championships with two first place finishes and six top three finishes. The women's team moved into first place after today's competition.
The championships are being hosted in Los Angeles at the East Los Angeles College for the ninth year in a row.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The women swam hard in the 200 yard freestyle relay taking first and finishing at 1:30.41; only .002 off the oldest MPSF women's record from 2013. The team was made up of
Tina Reuter,
Miranda Renner,
Brittney Miles, and
Jordan Phillips. Swimming in the 500 yard freestyle,
Juli Arzave finished second with a time of 4:51.34, and
Sophie Francis took third with a time of 4:52.96.
Katja Pavicevic took first in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:00.66. Her teammate,
Tina Reuter, took third with a time of 2:00.91. In the 50 yard freestyle,
Miranda Renner took third, only a tenth of a second behind second place with a time of 23.13.
On the men's side,
Ivan Kurakin broke the team record with his prelim 500 yard freestyle swim to qualify for finals. He then took third place with a time of 4:21.14 in the finals.
Spencer Daily swam a 20.02 in the 50 yard freestyle to take third place.

The Tritons continue the MPSF championships as day three begins with preliminaries which start at 10 am and finals at 6 pm.
