Alessandro Allen and
Nick Cirrito have been named to the 2022-2023 College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District First Team, the organization announced Tuesday.

The prestigious award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To be eligible for nomination, a scholar-athlete must hold at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, participate in 50 percent of the competitions, and have completed at least one full year at their institution.

Midfielder Allen was a staple to the Tritons' attack formation all season long. Taking 22 shots this season, he put eight on frame and scored one goal with four assists. He is tied for fifth in The Big West conference for the most assists this season. The Maryland product started 16 games this season competing for 811 minutes. On September 4, Allen earned his first collegiate penalty kick success against Cal. The goal was critical in tying with the NorCal foe. He was also a member of The Big West Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2021 and earned conference recognition making the All-Big West Second Team for an outstanding 2022 season. Finishing his undergraduate degree this year studying general biology, Allen currently boasts a 3.75 cumulative GPA.

Cirrito played a total of 1,046 minutes for the Tritons as he led the attack as a veteran forward for the team. The Diamond Bar product led UC San Diego with four goals scored, with those goals he is tied for fifth in The Big West conference for goals scored. He took 20 shots this season with nine on frame. The forward earned his second penalty kick attempt and score against Cal Poly, he is 2-2 on PKs in his career. Cirrito earned a career-high two goals against Pacific at the beginning of the season. He was also a member of The Big West Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2021 and earned conference recognition making the All-Big West Honorable Mention list for a fantastic 2022 season. In his first year of graduate school studying climate science and policy, Cirrito holds a 3.55 cumulative GPA.

Allen and Cirrito will advance to the national Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third- team Academic All-America recipients will be voted on by all CSC members and will be announced at the beginning of December.
