KATJA PAVICEVIC, WOMEN'S SWIMMING, SR., BREASTSTROKE/IM

UC San Diego's swim and dive captain, Katja Pavicevic led the Tritons to victory over UC Davis in a dual meet Saturday. Pavicevic earned three first-place finishes and scored a total of 29 points. Leading off the meet with a win, the 200-yard medley relay team made posted a 1:41.60 time and the captain swam a 28.1 split. In the 100-yard breaststroke, she touched the wall almost three seconds faster than the second place finisher. In her final first-place finish, Pavicevic posted a 2:13.48 time in the 200-yard breaststroke, which was five seconds ahead of her competitors.

ISAAC IVE, MEN'S FENCING, SO., EPEE
In the 26th running of the renowned BladeRunner Tournament, sophomore Isaac Ive led the Tritons to victory in Division 1-A Men's Epee. After competing in a pool of 91 competitors, Ive won five straight duels and scored 30 touches while only receiving 11. In the tableau, he had a first round bye and then landed 85 more touches to go undefeated on the day and take first in the weapon. To earn his inaugural BladeRunner title, Ive had to make his way through three of his teammates, two of which ended up taking second and third place for a Triton sweep of the Men's Epee.

CAMRYN BORG, WOMEN'S SOCCER, SO., M

UC San Diego sophomore midfielder Camryn Borg was instrumental in the Tritons earning results in two road matches last week. On Thursday at CSU Bakersfield, Borg controlled center midfield as the Tritons rallied for a pair of second half goals to earn a 2-2 draw. On Sunday at CSUN, the transfer scored the game-winner in the 80th minute on a header to propel the Tritons to a 1-0 win. For the season, Borg ranks second on the team with three goals.

DAVIS McDOWELL, MEN'S GOLF, SO.
Sophomore Davis McDowell placed third of 93 golfers at the Visit Stockton Invitational last week at the Stockton Golf & Country Club. He recorded a 54-hole total of 204, nine-under par. McDowell opened the event Thursday with a career-best 65 (-6), followed with a 71 (even par) in Friday's second round, and shot a 68 (-3) Saturday to close it out. Over McDowell's 54 holes, he had 36 pars and 15 birdies. McDowell's 65 was the best single-round by a Triton since the team became an NCAA Division I program in 2020. In fact, the last Triton to shoot a 65 was Adam Navigato, who carded a pair of 65's at the Otter Invitational in October of 2017.

AVA McINNES, WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL, SO., OH

Outside hitter Ava McInnes averaged 5.75 kills per set with 46 kills, hitting .303 on the weekend to lead the Tritons with 48 points. The sophomore collected a career high 31 kills on 85 swings (hitting .282) on Friday night against Long Beach State. She followed that up by leading the team in kills again on Saturday with a match-high 15 kills (hitting .342) in a 3-0 sweep of Cal State Fullerton. Defensively, McInnes also added 14 digs and three blocks for UC San Diego.

MAX CARVALHO, MEN'S SOCCER, SO., FORWARD
Propelling the Tritons past Cal Poly, UC San Diego's Max Carvalho scored a pair of goals in 18 seconds in the Triton's 4-3 victory. Carvalho shot 100% in his stat line on Saturday night. With two goals already on the board for UC San Diego, Carvalho sent a sliding kick into the back of the net on a cross from Jack Hagan, who received the ball from Mason Haubrich in the middle. As play resumed, Carter Jacobus cleared the ball to Carvalho, who took it down the left side and struck with his right foot to put the Tritons up 4-0 on the Mustangs. Saturday's two goals are a single-game career-high for Carvalho and he has tripled his goals scored this season.

MANUEL AUGUSTO, MEN'S WATER POLO, SR.

Over four games on the road last week senior Manuel Augusto totaled 10 points on five goals and five assists. His biggest game came against 16th-ranked WWPA opponent California Baptist, in which he scored three goals and added a pair of assists for a season-high five points to lead the Tritons to a win and stay undefeated in conference play. At No. 3 UCLA, he finished with three points on a goal and two assists and against Austin he registered a goal and an assist. Augusto has tallied at least one point in 16 of 19 matches with multiple points in 10.

TALISA LIN, WOMEN'S SOCCER, FR., DEFENDER
UC San Diego freshman Talisa Lin helped anchor a back line that surrendered just one goal over 180 minutes on the pitch last week. The right back played all 90 minutes in the Tritons' scoreless draw at UC Santa Barbara Thursday night. On Sunday, Lin and the Tritons earned a 3-1 victory over Hawai'i to pick up their first Big West victory of the season. For the season, Lin has started the last 14 matches after coming off the bench in the opener, and she has played all 90 minutes in 13 consecutive matches.

EMILY MCDANIEL, WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL, SO., OPPOSITE

Sophomore Emily McDaniel averaged 2.50 kills and 1.00 blocks per set in two five-set road battles for the Tritons, finishing the weekend with 31.0 points. The opposite tallied 25 total kills, hitting .246 and finished with a team-best 10 blocks, including two solo stops. In Thursday's match at UC Riverside, she finished with 14 kills and five blocks to total 16.5 points. On Saturday, she tallied 11 kills and five blocks for 14.5 points.

ANDREW VALVERDE, MEN'S SOCCER, SO., MIDFIELDER
Sophomore midfielder Andrew Valverde had a breakout performance vs. Sacramento State when he scored two goals for UC San Diego on Saturday night. The UCLA transfer scored his first collegiate goal in the 36th minute to tie it up at 1-1. In the second half, the Hornets were able to tie it up again at 2-2. In the 67th minute, Valverde took a cross from the right side and sent it into the back of the net on his first touch, lifting the Tritons past Sac State with the final result of 3-2. Valverde's Saturday performance allowed UC San Diego to go 1-1 on the opening week of Big West play and advanced the Tritons to 5-4-2 overall.

ELLIOT BUNYAVIROCH, GOLF, SR.

Elliot Bunyraviroch started his senior season off strong with a career-best fifth-place showing in the 84-player field at the Ram Masters Invitational in Fort Collins, Colorado. He helped lead UC San Diego to a fifth-place finish as well, the team's best placing in a season opener since becoming a Division 1 program. Bunyaviroch finished with a 4-under par 206. He posted rounds of 66, 70, and 70. His first round 66 was a career-best. In that opening round, he produced a hole-in-one on the par-3, 190-yard second hole. Accomplished with an 8-iron, it was the first hole-in-one of his competitive career. His 54 holes were comprised of one ace, 12 birdies, 33 pars, seven bogeys, and a triple bogey. Bunyaviroch compiled a 2.80 stroke average on par-3 holes, the third-best of any player in the field.

ZARIA HENDERSON, WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL, SO., OH
Outside hitter Zaria Henderson averaged 4.22 points per set and hit at a .247 clip, with 3.67 kills per set, three aces and two blocks on the opening weekend of Big West play. Henderson recorded double-doubles in both matches, averaging 3.67 digs per set. On Friday, she tallied 16 kills and 15 digs in a five-set thriller against UC Santa Barbara. The following night, Henderson put up a match-high 17 kills and a career-high 18 digs against CSUN, hitting .316 in the match.

UC San Diego sophomore forward Natalie Abel has scored in three straight matches for the Tritons, including goals in both matches this week. On Wednesday against San Francisco, the Texas A&M transfer scored in traffic during the 48th minute. In Sunday's Big West opener against UC Irvine, Abel's strike from 10 yards out in the 15th minute helped propel the Tritons to a 1-1 draw against the defending Big West champs.

DOMINIC PETERS, MEN'S SOCCER, GRAD., GK
Grad student Dominic Peters led the Tritons to a 0-1-1 weekend after holding a clean sheet against crosstown foe, University of San Diego. Against the Toreros, Peters a career and season-high record for a single match with 12 saves. He was four away from the Tritons' single match save record which was set in 1979. In the Tritons' 2-0 loss against Gonzaga, Peters faced 19 shots from the Bulldogs with nine shots on goal, seven of which he saved. Peters played 180 minutes this weekend and is one of three Tritons who played all 180 minutes. He is the current Big West leader in three categories: goals average against (.800), saves (35), and shutouts per game (3).

Running in her first collegiate race, Emma Dunmire was UC San Diego's top performer in a dual meet against UCLA in Mammoth Lakes on September 1. Dunmire finished third overall with a time of 10:00.7 on the 3000-meter course.

UC San Diego sophomore midfielder converted a penalty kick in the 84th minute to give the Tritons a one-nil victory over UNLV on Sunday night. The score was the first of the season and second career for the Torrance native.

RHYS BUGELLI, SO., UTIL, MEN'S WATER POLO

Over four games during UC San Diego's Triton Invitational, sophomore Rhys Bugelli accumulated 14 points on 10 goals and 4 assists. He netted at least one goal in every game and scored multiple goals in three of four. Against 10th-ranked Pepperdine, he totaled six points on four goals and a pair of assists. Those point and goal totals were both career-bests. In action against No. 8 UC Santa Barbara, Bugelli scored another hat trick to go along with an assist.

IZZI STRAND, SO., S, WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
Setter Izzi Strand was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Colonel Classic after she tallied 9.44 assists and 2.89 digs per set to lead UC San Diego to a clean 3-0 sweep of the tournament. With the wins, the Tritons improved to 5-1 on the season—their best start since 2017. Strand recorded her fourth double-double of the season on Friday against the host Nicholls, finishing with 39 assists—one shy of her career high—and 13 digs. She also finished one dig shy of another double-double in the early match against Southern Illinois, tallying 35 assists and nine digs. Strand directed the offense to team hitting percentages of .325, .303 and .434—the latter being the Tritons' best hitting percentage of the Division I era and best since Oct. 15, 2004 against at Cal State L.A. (.442).

In the 2022 season opener against Pacific, forward Nick Cirrito lifted the Tritons past the Tigers by putting away two goals in the second half of the match. With his two shots on goal finding the back of the net, Cirrito scored a career high most goals in a single game. Cirrito is currently tied with three others for the lead in The Big West for most goals scored.

AVAÂ McINNES, SO., OH, WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
Sophomore Ava McInnes averaged 4.23 points per set, with 44 kills and seven aces in three matches to lead UC San Diego to a 2-1 finish at the San Diego State Invitational on the opening weekend of competition. The outside hitter averaged a team-best 3.38 kills per set and was second in digs with 2.00 per set, tallying 19 kills in the Tritons first program win over Cal on Saturday, 3-2.
