Cohen Leads Maccabi Haifa FC to IPL Title, Earns League's Top Award

LA JOLLA, Calif. – Former UC San Diego men's soccer goalkeeper Josh Cohen '14 has led Maccabi Haifa FC to an Israeli Premier League title. The side earned a 3-2 win over Hapoel Be'er Sheva FC on Sunday on the final day of the season. Thanks to his strong play, Cohen was voted the Israeli Premier League's Player of the Season for the first time.

Cohen helped Haifa to a 24-5-7 record this season, posting 16 shutouts. He successfully stopped four of five penalty kicks faced during the season.

The Greens won the IPL championship for the first time since 2011, and the side have now won the IPL title 13 times in club history. They will advance to the UEFA Champions' League qualifying round beginning next month.

Last fall, Cohen was featured on Tritoncast, where he discussed his transition to the Israeli Premier League and reflected on his time at UC San Diego. That podcast interview can be heard by searching "TRITONCAST" on any major podcast platform, or by clicking here.
