ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Tritons wrapped up the Trailblazer Invitational with two new additional team records on day three of the event, which was hosted by Dixie State.
During finals,
Spencer Daily landed the Tritons first place in the 100 Free while
Aidan Simpson lead the 200 Breast. For the women,
Katja Pavicevic set a new team record in the 200 Breast and UC San Diego's 400 Free Relay group put up impressive times leading their races.
Session #5 – Saturday, Nov. 20 (10 a.m.) (prelims)
MEN'S
Starting the men off this morning,
Tyler James came in second in the 200 Back with a time of 1:46.45. Following less than two seconds behind in the fifth slot was
Nathan Lee.
The Tritons saw an appearance from
Aidan Simpson in the morning landing the top spot in the 200 Breast with a time of 1:59.37.
Spencer Daily finished less than two tenths of a second behind first place, securing himself third in the 100 Free prelims.
WOMEN'S
Alana Barthel landed the third slot in the 200 Back prelims whereas
Ciara Franke earned the Tritons spot three in the 100 Free.
Katja Pavicevic secured the top spot in the 200 Breast finishing with a time of 2:15.51. Pushing through the 200 Butterfly we saw
Tina Reuter come in fifth.
Session #6 – Saturday, Nov. 20 (5 p.m.)
MEN'S
Wrapping up the 200 Back,
Tyler James earned the Tritons third place with
Nathan Lee behind in fifth. Placing third, fourth, and fifth in the 1650 Free was
Ivan Kurakin finishing right before
Hayden Johnson and
Jackson Bernstein.
UC San Diego landed two spots coming in third and fourth in the 400 Free Relay with a group of
Spencer Daily,
Ivan Kurakin,
Nate Cunnan, and
Tyler James beating a new team record.
WOMEN'S
The Tritons' pushed through the 400 Free Relay and secured first with a time of 3:21.35.
Katja Pavicevic also had an impressive performance leading the 200 Breast timing in at 2:13.16.
Following the morning session,
Alana Barthel remained in the third spot for the 200 Back. UC San Diego also placed high in the 100 Free finals with
Ciara Franke placing third and
Miranda Renner coming behind in fourth.
UP NEXT
The Tritons will travel to Greensboro, N.C. to take part in the Toyota US Open from Dec. 1-4.
