Tritons Fall to UC Santa Barbara in Four Sets

LA JOLLA, California—The UC San Diego women's volleyball team dropped a four-set decision to Big West opponent UC Santa Barbara Saturday evening at RIMAC Arena.  

Scores were 25-16, 23-25, 25-12, and 25-18 in favor of UCSB, which owns the top position in the Big West. The Tritons fell to 8-15 overall and 5-7 in the conference, while the Gauchos improved to 15-9 and 11-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UC San Diego hit just .118 (42-24-153) to UC Santa Barbara's .318 (59-17-132).

Ava McInnes had a match-high 17 kills for the Tritons, while Sabire Karacaova followed with 12. Naya Dong had 19 digs, also a match-best.

For the Gauchos, Michelle Ohwobete had 16 kills.

UC Santa Barbara got out to a 10-0 lead in the fourth set and a 4-0 lead in both the first and second sets. The Gauchos hit .484 in the opening frame.

UC San Diego's best attack came in the second set when the Tritons hit .244.
