DAVIS, Calif.—Despite strong performances from
Sabire Karacaova and
Zaria Henderson, UC San Diego dropped a tough match on the road to UC Davis, 3-1, on Thursday evening at University Credit Union Center.
After dropping the first two sets, 20-25, 18-25, the Tritons (8-16, 5-8 Big West) rallied to take the third 25-18 and extend the match. UC San Diego trailed the Aggies (9-15, 5-8 Big West) by the three points late in the fourth set, 17-20, but could not complete the comeback, eventually falling 18-25.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Karacaova collected a match-high 15 kills on the night, hitting .149 and adding 10 digs for her sixth double-double of the season.
Zaria Henderson also recorded double-digit kills, finishing the night with 13, and
Grace Cannon was efficient with eight kills on 12 swings and one error, to finish at a .583 clip.
Isabela Dobra directed the offense to a .203 hitting percentage, collecting 42 assists and adding 12 digs for her 14th double-double of the season.
Defensively,
Naya Dong led the way in the back court with 13 digs, while
Susanna Limb added 10. The Aggies held the advantage at the net with 15 team blocks compared to one for the Tritons.
TRITON TIDBITS
- Isabela Dobra recorded 42 assists and 12 digs for her 14th double-double of the season,
- Sabire Karacaova tallied a match-high 15 kills and 10 digs for her sixth double-double
- It is UC San Diego's 13th match to go to four sets this season, the Tritons are now 6-7 in four-set matches.
