Triton Tuesday: Rankings Recap

Every day is a good day to learn more about UC San Diego, but we've chosen a particular one to spread knowledge with our new feature called "Triton Tuesday." Each Tuesday, get the inside scoop with fun facts about Triton athletics, the UC San Diego campus and community, and our beautiful home of San Diego, California, in a Did You Know? format.
 
Rankings are a critical part of athletics, but they are important from a university standpoint as well. Today, we explore some of UC San Diego's 2020 rankings pertaining to everything from the top public universities in the nation to the best public universities for LGBTQ+ students.
 
Get Your Money's Worth
 
UC San Diego nabbed third place in Money's annual ranking of best public colleges in the U.S. ranked by value. The rankings take into account tuition fees, career earnings, and more to find the best quality and affordable universities.
 
National Acclaim
 
UC San Diego has been routinely named one of the nation's top universities. QS World University Rankings named UC San Diego the U.S.'s sixth best public university based on employability, diversity and internationalization, learning experience, and research.
 
The U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges Guidebook and the Center for World University Rankings both ranked UC San Diego eighth among the nation's top public universities.
 
Love for LGBTQ+ Students
 
Campus Pride and BestColleges collaborated to provide a list of the best colleges for LGBTQ+ students. UC San Diego was tabbed the ninth best public university. Its LGBT Resource Center plays a large role, helping to foster relationships among LGBTQ+ students, staff, faculty, alumni, and the UC San Diego community.
 
Value for Veterans
 
UC San Diego was ranked 15th in the U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges Guidebook for best colleges for veterans. The ranking is based on UC San Diego's efforts in participating in federal initiatives to help veterans and active-duty service members pay for their degrees.

About UC San Diego Athletics
After two decades as one of the most successful programs in NCAA Division II, the UC San Diego intercollegiate athletics program begins a new era in 2020 as a member of the Big West Conference in NCAA Division I. The 23-sport Tritons earned 30 team and nearly 150 individual national championships during its time in Divisions II and III and helped guide more than 1,400 scholar-athletes to All-America honors. In addition, 83 Tritons have been named Academic All-Americans, while 37 have earned prestigious NCAA Post Graduate Scholarships.
