Women's Water Polo Cruises Past Opponents

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The No. 8 University of California, San Diego women's water polo team continued to roll at the Lancer Invite. The Tritons opened up the day with a 19-4 win over Concordia Irvine and closed it out with a win over Pomona-Pitzer 17-7. With a record of 5-1, the Tritons are off to their best start since 2014.

VS CONCORDIA IRVINE
Ciara Franke had another dominate performance and set a new single game record with six goals. Tera Richardson had a hat trick in the first quarter. Holly Maine, Georgia Ransone and Taylor Onsett each had two goals.

The offense fired on all cylinders and shot a blazing .633 against the eagles. They capitalized on both penalty shots.

The Tritons had a stingy defense and forced 22 steals. Onstott led the pack with four steals. Sydney Boland and Bennett Bugelli each had three steals. UC San Diego held Concordia scoreless on both power play opportunities.

VS POMONA-PITZER
UC San Diego would score first off the sprint but Pomona would equalize less than a minute later. The Tritons used a 7-1 run to take command of the game at the half and never looked back from there.

Franke added five more goals during the game en route to her 100th career goal. The junior now has 19 goals on the season. Grace Pevehouse added four goals while Richardson added four points from two goals and two assists.

Reilly Gallagher made eight saves in the game and finished with a .727 save percentage. Gallagher and the defense also held the Sagehens to 0-7 on power play opportunities.
