No. 17 Tritons Knock Off Cal State East Bay for Fifth-Straight Win

HAYWARD, Calif. — Sophomores Taylor Onstott and Grace Pevehouse recorded a hat trick with three goals apiece to lift the No. 17 University of California San Diego women's water polo team to a road victory over Cal State East Bay, 12-4, on Saturday afternoon.

Seniors Chanel Schilling, Riley Heiduk, Krista Schneider, Maddy Wieseler and sophomores Tera Richardson and Sydney Boland also scored one goal each for the Tritons, who won their fifth-straight game and eight of their last nine.

UC San Diego (15-12, 3-0 WWPA) has won 40-consecutive Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) contests, including postseason, and wraps up regular-season conference play at Sonoma State on Sunday morning beginning at 9 a.m.

The Tritons took an early 2-1 advantage in the first quarter on Saturday and outscored Cal state East Bay 5-0 in the second period to take a 7-1 halftime lead. Scores by Schneider, Boland and Richardson to begin the second half pushed UC San Diego's lead to nine and helped put the game out of reach.

Onstott recorded the Tritons' first goal of the game and scored two more in the second quarter to go along with a game-high three steals.

Pevehouse had all three of her goals in the second period, including a five-meter penalty shot with 2:42 left in the first half as well as a score with 1:39 to go before intermission.
