No. 20 UC San Diego Tops No. 16 Long Beach State, Sweeps Final Day of Triton Invite

LA JOLLA, Calif. — The No. 20 University of California San Diego women's water polo team finished off the 2019 Triton Invitational in style on Sunday, sweeping two contests at Canyonview Aquatic Center en route to taking ninth place out of 16 teams.

UC San Diego (4-5) earned a key victory over future Big West foe No. 16 Long Beach State, 9-6, on Sunday evening, after knocking off No. T-25 Marist earlier in the afternoon, 12-7. The Tritons closed the tournament on a three-game winning streak and won three games in the prestigious two-day event for the first time since 2006.
