Dan Golubovic Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

LA JOLLA, Calif. - Dan Golubovic from the UC San Diego men's track and field program was named to the 2015-16 Academic All-District Track & Field/Cross Country First Team for NCAA Division II District 8, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the sport and in the classroom. It is Golubovic's first time being honored as Academic All-Distrct. As a first-team Academic All-District member, he advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot.

Golubovic, a redshirt junior decathlete from Manhattan Beach, is an economics major with a 3.34 GPA. He earned UCSD's only NCAA automatic qualifier this year when he scored 7139 points in the decathlon at the Aztec Invitational. It is the sixth best mark in the nation. Golubovic also qualified in the pole vault, tied for the 10th seed at nationals with a mark of 16'6.75”, grabbed in the process of his decathlon performance at the Aztec Invitational. Golubovic won the pole vault and the javelin at this year's California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships.

Student-athletes must be in at least their second season, hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 and be an important contributor athletically to be eligible for Academic All-District and All-America recognition.
