UC San Diego Honored with CCAA Make-A-Wish Award

LA JOLLA, Calif. - The California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) honored the Triton Athletes' Council (TAC) with the annual CCAA Make-A-Wish award for the 2013-14 academic year.

Since 2003, NCAA Division II institutions across the nation compete against each other to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and have raised close to 3.5 million dollars.

This year the Tritons were the conference's highest contributor to the Make-A-Wish foundation with a total of $5,508.31. During the 2013-14 year Division II raised over $567,778.

Raising the highest dollar amount per student-athlete was Chico State, averaging $15.38 per student-athlete with a grand total of $5,000 donated to the foundation.

Carol Rivera, CCAA Assistant Commissioner of Compliance and Internal Operations, presented the award to TAC on Jan. 9 at halftime of the men's basketball game against Sonoma State.
